John Wayne vs. Robert Duvall vs. Clint Eastwood.

Who ya got?

I know this is heresy, but I'm leaning to Duvall based on Open Range and Broken Trail, both of which were fantastic performances. Bonus points for playing Gus in the Lonesome Dove series.

I remember my grandpa saying the same thing 2lane....he saw it when he was 7 or 8 as well! Yea right!!!! I saw it when I was a kid.....it was a great movie.:drink:

I loved the series "How the West was Won".

I never saw How the West was Won in a series. I only know of the 1962 original. I can still recall the rail car scene where the logs broke loose. If I recall correctly, there was a stuntman that was hurt doing that scene. These days, you don't see such a huge all star cast in one movie like there was in How the West was Won.

Monty Walsh/ New one with Tom Sellick Really good about cowboy lifestyle. Jack

Back in the my College days I had a class in Film studies. Monty Walch was one that we watched, analyzed and found to be closer to what the "old west" was like according to the facts and understanding of the times. Good movie. Unionized Cowboys, unemployed cowboys, not many people owned or carried a six-gun most used a shotgun. Cattle ranches owned by Corporations, more than a few controlled by British interests.
As far as John Wayne being a good actor. Yep he was ok. Duval beats him anyday. John Wayne did far more movies but I've never seen a bad one by Duval. John Wayne beat Rio Bravo, Rio Lobo, El Dorado to death. They are the same movie done three seperate times James Caan, Ricky Nelson, Dean Martin etc......
