Monday-Friday its peanut butter and sugar free or low sugar jelly on multi-grain sandwich round and apple or piece of fruit. Weekend is eggs, bacon, biscuits, gravy, or fresh blueberry pancakes with eggs and bacon.

Once every two weeks I may stop and get a fast food biscuit. I eat very healthy except for the two breakfast on the weekends. I stopped eating sugar a couple of years ago and now the only cereal I eat is plain Cheerios.

Yes.

Jdgreen227, that is all you wanted right, a yes or no. You should have titled the Thread:
"How much fat and cholesterol did you eat this morning?"

Then my answer would be 2 grams of fat (in the flax seed meal and oatmeal), no cholesterol.

Good Morning!!!!:D:D

We bought a dehydrator last year which works very well in preserving food. I am about out of strawberries that I dried and vacuum packed in a mason jar at the end of last summer. Local strawberries should be available soon. :dance1: I have dried apples as well and we have at least one or two quarts of dried apples vacuum packed in mason jars left over from the end of the 2012. Jerky is good and easy to make as well. The vacuum sealer we bought has a marinade feature that I have used on the London Broil jerky before I put in the dehydrator.:drool::drool::licking::licking::licking:

One of the first things I made in the dehydrator is flax seed crackers. All you do is grind some up in a foot processor add water and whole flax seeds, grind again, smooth out on the drying sheets, add a bit of salt, and score the goo into cracker sized pieces. Here is the weird thing....

If you add water to flax seeds and try to grind them in the food processor, this white, Elmers glue like substance emerges from the flax seeds. More than a bit odd looking and the processor WILL NOT grind up the seeds. I think the white stuff is oil that prevents the seeds from being ground up. Very strange.

I have a bag of these things vacuum sealed on my desk. I made them last summer and I wanted to see how long they would last. So far so good. Now, to be honest, they don't taste that good either.:laughing::laughing: They don't taste bad but they are not something I crave. :D:D:D Once the strawberries are gone I am going to open the bag and use the mason jar to hold the flax crackers. Yum. :licking: I can hardly wait.:laughing::laughing:

Dan - I envy you your dehydrating food, making jerky etc/. I am going to talk to the Mrs. about us doing that ..She retires next month so maybe I will be asking you for some tips...

My favorite dehydrator food is banana chips. Great use for those overripe bananas, you want them to be really ripe so the sugars have developed. Just slice them up in 1/8" or so slices, dip in orange juice or something with citric acid to prevent browning, and dry them out. Very addicting, it is all too easy to eat 4 or 5 bananas worth in one sitting. I use the plastic mesh inserts on my trays to make getting the chips off easier. You can also use cooking spray or something similar to help but you can taste that on the chips so I don't like it.

Yeah, Don better watch out. Those were some scary plants.... I don't even want to think about Don meeting the plant from A Little Shop of Horrors.... Poor Don....

I need to try bananas again. My first attempt was not so good due to browning and moisture content. I THINK I dipped the chips into a citric water bath to prevent browning. I know I did not dry them enough but they REALLY tasted good! The banana taste was so much more pronounced and they were not at all like the store bought banana chips.

Yeah the ones in the stores likely need to have some minimum shelf life for shipping etc.... The ones I make at home don't hang around long enough to spoil/go bad or whatever. :licking:
