We DO use coupons and have about 30 of those dang cards that gets you a % off your bill. It does save us a good bit of $ when you look at the $ saved at the bottom of the receipt or the account at end of month. I'm talking about the Krogers or Speedway or Autozone or ...... cards and half dozen often used ones on the key chain.

My Brother-N-Law ran a little pizza & chicken joint for 3 or 4 years, it was about bankrupt and the owners of 20 something years decided to sell & retire. They picked it up for a song fixed the pizza and service added the best dang wings ever and Pizza. was really delicious it was turning profit and maxed out the production at the small location by making it RIGHT and Awesome! it took about 18 months to get over the old owner stigma and get more and new clientele even with the great food. the Pricing was good and they also added a couple drivers. There was no dine in service as it was too small. The Drivers kept getting robbed and then someone hit the store too so... They sold it with a nice profit and the new owners ended up NOT following advice, changed suppliers as they could get cheaper supplies etc. it lasted about 30 months and went bankrupt / out of business with no new buyers.

I make my OWN pizza just cant get it half as good as homemade :D We almost always eat at home or use coupons or only buy off the 1 (dollar menus.)
Some food for thought.

Wow, spiker, that pizza looks good!

We use coupons all the time and never regret it!

We also have a card that gives us $25 each year and $25 on my birthday. Credit toward purchase, of course. We get points for each purchase that can add up to significant amounts if you spend enough money there, which we really don't. But they have many brands under their corporate umbrella and we do like most of them.

On a recent business lunch my companions were surprised when the waiter told me I had enough points for my meal to be free. I paid for my meal though, and would have picked up my associates checks and let them pay me cash but the waiter tipped them off.

My wife's shop used to be next to a pizza shop. It had so many owners over 20 years that we started avoiding the new folks because we knew they were losing their butts. Nobody ever made a dime, and the franchise folks kept selling to new victims.

Year ago we had a Dominos that went out of business but years late reopened, a Pizza Hut, and a private pizza place. Then two new private places opened as did a Papa Johns. That is quite a few pizza places for a small town. Only the Pizza Hut went out of business which really surprised me because their food and service was better than the original private pizza place. The other stores seem to be doing well but I can't believe they can sell that much pizza in such a small town. But so far they are all still in business.

Back to coupons.:laughing::laughing: We will surprise the kids with a vacation this summer, the kids don't know we are going much less where we are going. :D:D:D There is a restaurant that looks really good where we are going and if you register on their website you can get.....

COUPONS! :laughing::laughing::laughing:

I have registered. :D:D:D

"I use coupons to Taco Bell and Burger King all the time on my dates", said the 50 year old single man. ;-)

WAAAY TOO FUNNY

Interesting to note around here the closest Pizza Hut went out and now the next nearest one is closing too and so did a Domino's Pizza.

We have lots of independent pizza shops that do a booming business. Best ones I like are greek :D

Franchise pizza joints only thrive where there's no one that really knows how to make pizza. I would hate to own a Domino's in a town like Columbia MO...home of Shakespeare's...or most anywhere in metro New York...or in central Oklahoma where the "real" pizza comes from a place called HideAway.

We'll use coupons; they made them so they must want to lure you in... Sometimes that is the reason we go out, cause we have a coupn to someplace, especially some plce different from our normal haunts.

That is how we supported local school to; their entertainment books. The one we have now, we've gotten good use out of and return on the investment.

We do the same with Pizza. Ours is always better than the local pizza joints, although we do take-n-bake when in a hurry...

A coupel years ago, my Son and I were on a Scout campout. He made his own dough the day before and kept it cool made his own sauce. Did most of prep work at home. The next day at the campout at Fallen Leaf Lake near Lake Tahoe, he lined up three camp Dutch ovens over coals, and baked up pizza's right there in camp. Everyone raved about them!

Way back in July, 1992, we were visiting my wife's family in West Virginia and my wife and I made 6 homemade pizzas one night, although we did use store bought pizza dough, to which we added tomato sauce, cheese, hamburger, sausage, pepperoni, ham, onion, mushrooms, black olives, and green bell pepper. I guess they weren't too bad; I think there were 3 slices left over. The trouble with homemade is that I prefer pizzas with lots of ingredients and you'd have a hard time buying all those ingredients in small enough quantities to make just one or two pizzas.

BIRD: ya I know what ya mean about the small quantities. We usually keep a bit of this and that out left overs & the like. When we make hamburgers planning ahead we make an extra & toss in freezer. When Pizza time roles around we thaw the bits and make it all up. STILL takes a lot of thought to get one going. For just the two of us the 1lbs of Bacon and Sausage or hamburger rolls makes a meal or two with the leftovers for the Sunday night dinner pizza. Heck we put all kinds of stuff on them usually leftover garbage pizzas almost always come out excellent!
We usually use "Martha White" brand pizza dough (Deep Dish) make it up per directions & toss in a little Parmesan Cheese, & olive oil in place of a bit of water. We let it raise up for about 20 min on the warm stove top while oven heats. Then grease pan, we use Bacon Grease on the pan & olive oil on our fingers. Bake the crust first to brown & raise. cook it first. Then layer on all the goodies and re-bake 15 min.
We tried the oven baking stones just not happy with them.
