Does the fan turn? will it start if you push it with a stick or screw driver? Could be a bad run capacitor. Had to Edit: When I replaced my start capacitor, they set me up with a single capacitor that starts the compressor and fan motor. Took me longer to put the top on then it did to swap out the capaciter

The fan did turn but it would not start when pushed. Oh well. My other option was get both and replace them myself. I found them both this morning in College Station for $400, but it was too hard to pay for parts under warranty. So I figure I'm $200 ahead (or $100 behind) and cool tonight.

I've seen the JD650 in action and its a great machine with a good operator! What ever you get, dont forget a tractor and trailer, that would be the easiest way to get it to Wise county!!

I haven't even thought about the weight,I need to check into that. I have 1ton dually and 20k trailer.
So Me,wife and kiddo went fishing and I come across this dang chicken snake on 2013-06-039519.08.35.jpg I'm a good 6'0

I saw 95˚ outside and 81˚ inside when the AC repairman showed up late this afternoon. Kyle I called Jim but he did not have both parts and it would take 2-3 days since it was warranty parts. I got the original installer to come out from San Marcos With both fan and dual capacitor (45/5). I got the part free but the labor charge + diagnostic fee + millage was still $200. But it is cooling today. It was just the dual capacitor (combo fan and compressor capacitor). Next time I'll replace it for 1/4 the the price. The determining factor if it was a capacitor or fan motor was if the blades turned easy by hand, they did, and he said it's the capacitor - and it was. Now I know, now I'm cool.

Don, if you can get one cheap, it might be worth it to have 1 on standby.

My poor mother took her 06 Camry in to the dealer with a squeak. $550 later they told her it was the alternator. I about choked when she told me. Taking advantage of an 83 year old woman. $400 for the part and 150 tax and labor.

That's what I was thinking also.

They don't take advantage of just the old they get us all - or all we all that older group now????

Next time I'm charging the repairman for each text he receives on my property.:D

TXDon; I refuse to put myself into the "older group" yet!

Looks like maybe a chance of rain Wednesday night, into Thursday. Not a big chance, but as dry as we all are, I'll take any chance I can get! :D

So your signature line is not from personal experience, it's future tense...ohhhh....k.

Don, a search on the internet will probably find matching capacitors for around $50-$60. In basic electricity courses in the US Navy, we used to teach students that capacitors in parallel add like resistors in series. That means a 200 microfarad and a 150 microfarad add up to a 350 microfarad capacitor as long as they both have the same voltage rating. I'm sure your AC has limited space and the dual cap is snuggled into a tight spot, but so is mine and my AC guy temporarily put in the two caps in parallel to get the AC running. Of course he had all the jumpers and wiring to make that easy. If you search, I'm sure you will find yourself a spare for the next event. Capacitor failure in AC units puts a lot of money into the pockets of HVAC repairmen. I'm not saying they don't deserve it, but if you know how, you can save some bucks and get your AC back on line with only a short delay.

That snake has obviously been single-handedly (a misnomer?) keeping the rodent population down. Did you kill it? I hope not, but it looks awful dead in the photo. I've never seen one that long.

I hope it DOESN'T rain in Allen Wednesday night:laughing: It's bad enough to see Dallas, let alone have to go back if I get rained out. If I'm lucky, it will rain from Birds house West.
