Looks nice WaxMan. I am just guessing, but I think that 59.8" measurement is with R1's and I think that could be to the outside of the tread. My L3800 is spec'd at 55.1 minimum tread width. Just measured mine at 58" outside of the tread with R4's and just over 60" to the sidewalls. That would make sense that the R1's could come in at 55.1"

On my 3540 I have the R4's and a 72 inch bucket. I believe a 66 inch will be a few inches shy of covering the rear tracks. The width of my rear tires from outside to outside is around 70 inches. Give or take an inch (I'm holding the tape measure by myself).

Thank you , do you or someone, know what the tire tracks are for the L3240?
The 3240 Specs say, Overall width (min.tread) is 59.8 inches. Does this mean with the stock factory tires on the L3240 a 66 inch bucket will cover the tire tracks?
The smaller L3800 tires on the tractor now have a width of 66 inches the rims are offset deep dish. I would really like to keep the 66 inch bucket or 60 inch bucket if possible. Could the larger tires leave a narrower foot print? It would be hard for me to believe since there're so big. Here are pictures of both. I really do not want a 72 inch bucket. But I do want to be able to back drag the bucket over my tire tracks.

As someone else mentioned the overall width at minimum tread is given with the R1 ag tires. As far as I know every dimension Kubota gives is based on Ag tires, the R4s are going to be a bit wider.

If you have the numbers for the tread settings you can figure out the various widths. If it gives a tread setting of 55" (which is the center line of the tires) then you just add the width of one tire to get your overall width. Best I can remember the ag tires on that model are 12.4" wide, so in this example the overall width would be 67.4". Take that same tread setting and put R4 tires on which I think are 16.5" wide and you'd have an overall width of 71.5". It lists the tread settings in the manual for the R1 tire/wheel combo, not sure if it does for the R4 tire/wheels.

If you want to stick with the 66" bucket I think it would work ok. It will be a little narrower than your rear tires at the minimum setting, but for most things that wouldn't be a problem, you're only talking 3" narrower per side. Unless you are excavating with it or cleaning up next to walls I don't see it being an issue.

Thanks Veticaltrx and wmonroe, I suppose if I turn slightly while back dragging I could cover one side tire tracks at a time. Though how would it be plowing thru 12 inch snow?

Congratulations on your beautiful new tractor. May I make a suggestion. I would get the 72 inch bucket and then I would get a an old 60 inch bucket that is a take off. One dealer down here says "we have a field full of them old take off bucket from people switching to SSQA" they offered to give me $100 for my bucket but I kept it and converted it to SSQA. I really enjoy having 2 buckets, one larger one for mulch or dirt, and one smaller bucket that is better for digging and flipping out rocks as the power is more concentrated in the smaller profile. Of course it is my "beater bucket" too. Just an Idea, but it is something you might think about, having 2 different sized buckets is nice.!

Unless they changed the operator's manual there is a section right before maintenance that lists widths. It has both ag and industrial listed with different numbers for each. I suspect (never really thought about it before) that turf tires and industrial tires use the same steel wheel. For industrial tires/ wheel combo on a 3240/ 3540 the widths listed are 52.2, 53.5, and 57.7 inches. As I said before this is to the center line. So just measure the width of one tire and add it to Kubota's measurement and you should know the over all width for each way the wheel can be mounted.

My manual has the rear industrial tire size as 420/70-24. If so 420mm would be about 16.5 inches. That would be an over all width of 68 3/4".
