Well the boards will have to dry in place. I cant wait 4 months to put this trailer back in service.

Also, I got the DOT tape off ebay. 30' roll for ~$28 delivered.

Don't coat the boards with anything until they dry out. I know someone that rolls used motor oil into his trailer deck. Says it works nicely.

Well I am late to the party.. I read thru it tonite. Soundguy mentioned an OIL based asphalt paint, the paint you put on LD1 is water based.. Says so on the specs.. I was screaming NO NO.. as I read thru this.. I bet the stuff comes off the metal pretty soon.. LD1, I sure hope I am wrong. The reviews of the tractor supply water based paint were all bad except for 1. I sure hope I am wrong..

I just checked it this morning, and it seems like it will be okay.

It really isnt like "water based" paint that I am used to.

It is still "asphalt based" paint. ANd this crap is like tar. It says clean up with water if wet, but after a few minutes on my hands, this stuff is sticky, just like road tar almost, and mineral spirits is the only thing that cuts it.

Let the boards dry or they will shrink and have wide cracks

Sent from my iPhone 5 using TractorByNet

and try to stack them in a way that their weight prevents bowing when drying.

is that new piant a latex paint? I didn't read the specs on the stuff he bought.

If it's an emulsion paint.. he'll still be wine. I've worked with asphalt/water emulsions for years. once the water is gone.. it's pretty much asphalt paint after that.
