Another option might be to consider the Kubota F series mower or JD equal. They are pricey and a FEL is not an option. But they mow at a quick pace, big decks, available with 4 wheel drive and diesel and you can put a blade or power brush on them for snow removal. I worked at a large University and they used the JD versions for most of the mowing and snow removal on the sidewalks.

Oh man those F series look nice! They are way too expensive for what I'm looking at though...maybe in the future.

The BX has enough power to mow in High. You need a smooth lawn to do it. I usually mow in low. What model BX did you look at?

Like KU Gator said also look at a B series. Thay have a 3 range hydro and a stronger hydraulic system.

I looked at the BX2360.

There is currently a newer version out, BX2370. It has a different gauge cluster, folding ROPS, left side brake, and better seat.

Yes, the dealer mentioned that to me as well. He said it would be about $1200 more, but is essentially the same aside from those small differences.

I'm partial to the 'left side brake', that's one of the reason's I chose the Massey over the Kubota.

Do you like to do burnouts?

I live on a hill, and have a very steep bank in front of my house that ends in the roadway. the difference between the 'left' and 'right' foot brake means the difference of being on top...........or in the roadway below upside down. That's because hydros won't come to a complete stop, just by letting off the 'go' pedal, while on a hill.

Not to mention that the 'left foot' brake makes it better for hooking up implements...........an inch with the tractor is better than an inch by hand when dealing with implements that weigh several hundred pounds.

Most of the time I just drop the bucket instead of using the brake.

When hooking up my box blade I stand beside the tractor and inch it backwards pushing the hydro pedal with my hand. I suppose you could run over your foot doing that but the tractor creeps with low range and idle.

I would not call bx tires hard but they are not springs.

The little BX with a FEL is a great back saver. It can also save you a lot of time.

Level ground allows this, but living on a hill changes things dramatically.

My son didn't set the brake on my old Cub Cadet(he thought where we park the cars was level enough), and about 20 minutes later the tractor rolled down the driveway and across the road in front of a Fed Ex truck. Luckily the driver was able to swerve out of the way and wasn't injured.

I do agree that these little tractors are great back savers. One of the best investments I've made.

I use the FEL for everything from stick removal while mowing, to butchering hogs  And I have another hog coming in three weeks.
