Pipe smoking

Is the Falcon, the "metal" pipe?

Yep. Made "In England" out of aluminium with an exposed shaft that cools the smoke. The metal bowl collects the annoying, bubbling, moisture and you simply un-screw the wood bowl to swipe out the moisture when you're done.

Used to smoke a full bent Meerschaum and Borkum Riff Wiskey tobaco, gave it up because the coops bothered me all the time now I just use snuff.
At worst, I was stopped 4 times when I walked through the nearest town suspected of smoking marijuana

 Good grief. I don't smoke too often, and pretty much always at home, so no problems there. I would think a very quick sniff of the pipe would fix things, but it would be a pain to even have to explain.

I found that pipe smoking has become so rare that any of the packaged products I could find were dry as a bone. And btw, that Lanes Very Cherry is one of the few products that my wife will tolerate in the house. A very pleasant aroma and also easy on the mouth.

That's what's great about today...you can get lots of good 'baccy on line. The choices can leave your head spinning.

For lots of very good aromatics I love these guys: Welcome to Boswells

Another great site with just about any mix/brand you would like (tins, bulk, etc): Pipe Tobacco

Yep, good stuff. My wife tolerates the occasional pipe very well, especially the aromatics, the occasional cigar...not so much. Definitely an "outdoor" activity the few times a year I enjoy one...unless I find myself missing the couch. :D

I do not know what has happened to pipe design these days but I find fewer and fewer of what I'd call elegant and graceful pipes. Most of these designs you'd see as "estate" pipes but who wants to smoke someone else's pipe? Not me. I am no fan of what you see with all kinds of crazy designs some the size of one's fist. Even some of the newer apples and billiards are too big. Some of the bull dogs from Peterson are nice looking but then they add that little briar "pouch" to catch the juices. Nice idea but often flys in the face of a pipe design that is cohesive.

I found a collection in EBay a few years ago for about $50 for 10...all "nasty" but with a little TLC with a dremel and a lot of rubbing alcohol I got a few dandies (one of my favorites is a hand-held leather wrapped straight pipe). Brebia (???) I got for Christmas a few years ago and love that. I smoke in my shop while moving about so the sit-down complicated pipes don't work for me.

I did the same thing a couple of years ago teejk...and they're still all sittin' down in the shop waiting to be "tuned up". I've bought a couple of estate pipes from ebay that were already all cleaned up that I've been happy with, my favorite is a Peterson 314 "army" p-lip, smokes great for about $35 iirc.
