Pleassssssssssssse somebody put in a 4.5L diesel! Perfect size / economy, should peak @ app. 400 ft-lbs torque. <4.0L is too small for light pickup.

310HP 520 torque.... Please build it!!

4.5L Duramax Diesel

To me, that's a perfect size for a 3/4 ton truck.

Ford has a 4.4L version putting out similar numbers. It's sold in Land Rovers, but not in any Ford product. I would love to see than in an F250 as I don't need 400HP/800 ft-lbs of torqu!

That was slated for the 1500 series trucks. I would love one in a 1500, would be a good base engine for a 2500HD.

With GM's history of 6.2 in half tons . I do not see why the big three have not put some on the market currently.. Ford's Eco Boost only gets good mileage when not working hard , i have heard of single digit fuel mileage when pulling a trailer..My 74 F150 club cab got 23 on the highway , 12-15 in city .. it pulled mileage down with a trailer also , it worked well.. Miss my 351 W

I know, another reason GM should go for it!!

Yeah, I know it was slated for the 1500. I just think it's overkill for a half-ton truck. Heck, the 1st Duramax had what, 300/500? I know the first 6.0 from Ford had 300/550!

Not over kill at all, look at the tow ratings of the new 1500. 400 is not near enough,

300/520 was the LBZ.

No, not overkill. They are evolving. But a car if you want a grocery getter.

I can use my 3/4 ton truck for a grocery getter (and I do on occasion). It's a multi-purpose truck used to take my kids to school, pick up groceries, haul our fifth wheel, etc. It's a diesel with 350HP and 650 ft-lbs of torque, and I would trade it for a 300 HP, 520 ft-lb 4.4L diesel if there was one available. I just don't need that much power for my trailering duties. I'm not saying that nobody does, I just don't.

However, I don't think a half ton truck needs to be able to tow 11k lbs. Seriously, that's just overkill. If you need to tow that much, that's what 3/4 ton trucks are for. Let's put a little focus back on fuel economy and forget about the towing and HP pi$$ing matches for a while!

Of course, that's just my opinion...

I agree!! Enough with the power wars, cap the power, and start building for economy.

But will they listen?

I think Dodge (errr, Ram) is starting too. Look at the latest iteration of the Ram half tons. Tow ratings down, fuel economy up, EcoDiesel coming.

I really have high hopes for the next F150 coming in '14. I think we will see some really impressive fuel economy numbers from Ford next year. The competition will be great for everyone!

The '14 won't be out til December but it is the same as the '13. The '15 will be the new one.

By '14, I meant the calendar year. ;)

The '15 (model year) should be revealed at the NAIAS in Detroit in January '14 with production starting at the Dearborn Truck Plant in June '14. Kansas City Assembly Plant will produce the '14 until December '14 when it goes down for retooling.

Amen, you must be a thinking man. Or at least give us more common sense choices.
