How do you explain Karma to a kid. My son was about 8 years old or so. Kept asking about Karma. I tried explaining to no avail. One evening we were staying in a hotel with a pool, it was late and I was trying to wind them down, my oldest likes to squeak stuff all the time. We were at the hot tub but he wanted to play in the pool. So he tells me dad I need to go to the bathroom, so on his way back to the hot tub he sneaks into the pool but looses his footing on the way in and falls square on his nuts on the pool's edge. I laughed, turn to my younger son and said there that's Karma. Later in the room my younger son tells my wife " Mom, Karma kick Erick(oldest) in the nuts!" I almost pissed myself.

Glad your getting the help needed. I also believe strongly in KARMA and although I don't like the saying" no good deed goes unpunished" unfortunately it holds true too often.
Good luck.

GOM, It is time and being in place, not methodology. I will there doing both this weekend with help I put together with materials. I will show you the same shots. When we sell the land, I will sell you the UTV "as is" once I get it cleaned up and checked out! If I keep the land, you are welcome to "stop by". Jim

Please don't take my comments the wrong way it's just too easy a target for a little good natured poking fun , I wish I was closer we could turn it into a party with a case of beer and some of my local "fire water "(Hopefully your not a revenurer ,workin fo the govmint and all ) and I'm sure in your area we could probably pick up some good sea food ! I could bring some of these local crawdads the size of your hand and charge admission to the show !

GOM, I did not take it for anything, but humor with a dose of advice! Not a revenurer, I am a Special Forces type who retired from the Army to work as an Operations Manager for those who look for those who need to get caught or stopped (you know what I mean).
I only tasted the "stuff" once and it went through me like lightning. Once dated a Bootlegger daughter in Andrews.NC while there for Counter-Gorilla Operations and got shot at (for real) by a lady Bootlegger in the mountains of the same area. Learned to stay clear of the daughter and the "stuff". Good day Jim

Yea...The farmers just sent me a message "This says it all!" and when I opened it I saw the attached photo. Two farmers using upward lift of straps and chains to trees pulled it out in one try! I will definitely reward them this weekend whether they will take it or not as a farmer's day is valuable everydayView attachment 330798. Thanks Jim

Jeez!! About time!!
Did they tow it home, or drive it home?

Adventure is right Eddie. I have ended access to everyone and we are considering selling the land. It is beautiful and I love it, but land is like children; be there or they run wild. All of this drama has taken me away from land upkeep and enjoyment.
Jim

Didn't you say that you were planning on retiring within the next 5 years or so?

I would think long and hard about what your ultimate goals with retirement, and life after retirement are.

One stuck ATV shouldn't drive you into any rash decisions. Ultimately it is just an ATV. Perhaps the answer is just to reconsider when and to whom to loan out keys to your toys.

I'm glad to hear that it is now out of the swamp. Now time for a good scrubbing, and hopefully you won't find too many surprises.

They drove it about 1200 feet. All fluids are good, but I need to change the air cleaner or filter. But will check and change all.

Cliff,
This made me think. I spend every week away and then weekends working on the land. The last 18 years in the Army, I was home an average five weeks a year. My wife did not know where I was most of the time. Now I am "home", but see my wife on weekends when not on the land.
When I am with her I find she appreciates it and I even took up bicycle riding which she loves and I have not done since I was 8 years old. So I need to show her more time and I do find I enjoy doing things with her.
Since the Army retirement, I have had four heart attacks and now have eight stents.
I need her and my grandchildren to have some memories other than me just coming home for a while to change clothes. Old habits are hard to break. Also I want to help Veterans, especially their family as far as getting VA benefits and like things to help them. I have been doing so of late and actually enjoy it.
So the land I love and now time to let someone else love it. Thanks for asking, Jim

I suppose it should be a family decision.

My parents always worked together on the farm.

Apparently Mom always loved horses, but for many years they just weren't practical. When Dad's knees were giving him too many problems to go hiking, they got horses, and spent more time in the woods than they ever had before, and Mom enjoyed the horses.

And, as my father approached the end of life, he did everything he could do to try to make my mother comfortable. Since he has passed away, she has kept the farm and horses, and is able to pay neighbors to come and help out as needed.

Anyway, you have some big decisions ahead of you, but they should all be family decisions. And retirement, if it is in the near future may change everything.
