I am 66.
I was in the US Navy from 17 - 21.
Now that my friends are at the age where they are being stricken with cancer in various forms.....
I think of the awful solvents we used routinely in the Navy, bare-handed, which are banned today, and I sweat the Big C.
Gas and Diesel are both loaded with Benzene. I do not know about grease.
Exposure is NOW, medical problems crop up years later.
I helped my older brother seal and caulk around all of his windows to seal it up- old victorian. He had a habit after applying the silicone caulk of smoothing it in with his fingers. But to make it work better, he'd stick his finger into his mouth to moisten it , then smooth the caulk. I don't know why he didn't have a cup of water handy- too much bother I guess. I figure he ingested caulking overtime. If he had that approach to that job, I'm sure he had a similar approaches to other jobs - who knows but he died from brain cancer at 63.
