Who carries handiwipes on their tractor?

I remember when I was a little boy seeing my Dad use a slice of bacon and just rub and rub it around in his hands like soap to cut all the grease off...It really worked and he did that instead of using gasoline or solvent...there were not many safe solvents back then ...so the bacon worked...Remember that ...in a pinch it still works when your run out of the hand soap grease cutters like Go Jo...

Now that's a man! Bacon for cleaning grease off his hands! That guy would be the administrator at the man school!

With the price of bacon these days, that's some pretty expensive soap. LOL

I love bacon more than I hate dirty hands. Into the skillet with it! :D

Do you cook the bacon and eat it after using it to clean your hands?

It is a sin to waste good bacon, but it may not be healthy to eat it after.........

One needs some sort of rag to clean with, but if I were looking to field clean a greasy hand, I would keep some of the waterless hand cleaners like Go-Jo or the Orange cleaner in a small squeeze bottle. Lather it up and just wipe it off with a clean rag. I usually have an abundance of old tee shirts that I have stained up so bad that the wife refuses to let me wear them so they make good hand rags. I keep some of the HF red shop clothes in my shop bathroom to dry off with after washing with the Orange Goop and rinsing with water. Best decision I ever made was putting a bathroom in my shop. The blue paper shop towels help keep the excess oil and grease wiped off as I work and then its Goop time when finished.
HF had the blue mechanics gloves on sale for $3.99 last week so I had to put 3 more pairs in the buggy. I have to quit buying gloves or else get a larger tool box to put them in, must have 25 pair of various types.

I too keep a waterless cleaner on the workbench. But I also have a glove collection scaled according to the job. I have those super thin surgical gloves you can buy by the hundred -- the black ones are tougher and may help you keep your man card, they are great for painting jobs but you do get really moist hands. Next up the scale are the Playtex dishwasher style -- much tougher, good dexterity, long cuffs, and now available in black [but yellow is still ok, I checked with the principal at man school]. At the top of the scale are army surplus chemical warfare clean-up gloves. These are tough black rubber with a separate cotton glove liner you put on first so your hand slips in easily [they also absorb some of the sweat]. Mine came with Mil Spec numbers and warnings and all. But they are great for sparying chemicals, moving sloppy oil drums, or applying noxious coatings.

I helped my older brother seal and caulk around all of his windows to seal it up- old victorian. He had a habit after applying the silicone caulk of smoothing it in with his fingers. But to make it work better, he'd stick his finger into his mouth to moisten it , then smooth the caulk. I don't know why he didn't have a cup of water handy- too much bother I guess. I figure he ingested caulking overtime. If he had that approach to that job, I'm sure he had a similar approaches to other jobs - who knows but he died from brain cancer at 63.

I knew a doctor who told me about all his patients with "fairway lip." Not an official disease, but he had a bunch of guys with a slight growth on their lip from holding a golf tee in their teeth. Seems that golf courses compete with waste dumps for the highest concentrations of chemicals and taking the tee from grass to mouth transfers a bit of it everytime.

I really like the blue Western Safety work gloves at HF. They go on sale often. I bought a pair last year and really liked them but, assumed they would not last so went back and bought a dozen pair for $4.99 a pair on sale. A year later, still on original pair. You can throw them in the washer and I dry mine on top of the dryer.

And they match our New Holland Tractor. Hmmmmmm? Wonder if they will make some in orange, red, or green?
