GM putting a small diesel in the Colorado and Canyon?

Yeah....I work at a Chevy dealership and have been waiting for information on these for a little while. My manager went to a rally in Philly and saw one, but was (obviously) not allowed to take pictures or anything. Just have to wait and see, I guess. :)

Thats the general impression we have from americans indeed, however the audience of this forum seems to have, for american standards, above average knowledge of whats going on in the rest of the world. :)

When you ask an American what makes America exceptional, he will mention the moon landing. Actually the rocket which put Americans on the moon was designed by a team of German engineers captured right after WW2, because the American team failed and they were afraid to loose against the Russians.... Its fine to be proud of your heritage, but you should get informed about what heritage you can actually take credit for... ;)

The moon landing is what you think Americans gained from WW2? What ended the war? I have never touted a moon landing to anyone but then again I was only one when it happened.

We probably stole some Hollanders to engineer some tulips too. Lol

To be honest most North Americans have no clue about Europe except what they see on TV with WWII movies, James Bond, exotic street legal race cars and media clips of old buildings and fountains. Sorry.
Not to brag but Canadians can generally find Europe on the globe, the general location of the countries and a few high lights of each.
Not to slam Americans but their public education system and culture dwell on their own county, state and Country. The rest of the world is of minor interest or effect on the mighty #1 USA. Nothing wrong with cheer leading your own country first but you should at least know some world wide geography and history.

Pretty funny comment from someone who's screen name is buickanddeere. If you are so proud of Canada why isn't your screen name
"???andversatile"?

I couldn't think of a Canadian auto manufacturer, probably because our public education system is so poor. Maybe you can name one for me.

I am a contractor and I work off and on at the plant that will build the frames. They built a large expansion for the frames and they will be e-coated instead of wax dipped. It is neat to have watched them hand build the prototype frames.

This is going to get interesting...
Perhaps not, its hard to debate truth.

Here in Holland, we've already been through what America is in right now. We had (and still have) problems with 2nd and 3rd generation immigrants from Maroc and Turkey that form streetgangs, disrespect our culture of tolerance, have a 5 times higher crime rate than other ethnicities and harass people in the street. This is a result of failed policies since the 50's. Anyone who dared mention the statistics would be shouted out with the word "racism" untill we had Pim Fortuijn, who had the guts to stand against the prejudice of being called a race hater, against the political correctness, he knew how to call the problem by its name without any racial prejudice, and caused a landslide in the elections of 2002. Shortly before the elections he was shot by a leftwing extremist, and his party fell apart in the months after, which lead to new elections: However the political establishment took this as a serious message ! Its time to adress the problem and help these youngsters caught up between two cultures, instead of closing your eyes for the problem and turning your back to these people, thereby forcing them into criminality...

Assassination of Pim Fortuyn - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Someone will rise up in America too, someone who dares to break the mental constraints put on average americans by mainstream cultural elite. Perhaps the messenger will be shot by an extremist, just like Fortuijn, but once the ghost is out of the bottle, other political parties will realise what the people really want, and act accordingly. Then a process will start in where people will no longer be afraid to use their freedom of speech because they dont have to be afraid to be shouted down in any reasonable debate with the term "racist !" and along the road, there will be true justice regardless of ethinicity of culture. Judges in Holland still take family and cultural pressure in mind when convicting Turkish or Maroc offenders, putting away with political correctness doesnt mean that offenders of ethnic minorities are suddenly outlaws... It just means that they are no longer above the law..

...Well... With these events that happened here back in Holland 10 years ago in my memory, it sure is interesting what will happen in America... Ignoring and silencing a problem doesnt make it go away.. Who will stand up and give the silenced majority their freedom of speech back ? Something will happen.... and i'm watching it ;)

So I read that GM is thinking of putting a 2.5 or 2.8 diesel in the Colorado. If it's already been posted I didn't see it. If it's true then it should be a pretty good size engine for the truck. Enough power to move the truck but small enough to get pretty good MPG.

Whoa anybody else read the title or what this threads about?

We were hoping for simple reliable low cost Tier II diesel burning diesel fuel at 3/4 the price of gasoline in North America.

I stayed around the frame line at Ft Wayne assembly for many hours a day. Spent many nights scraping frame wax out of my boots. Looking forward to seeing the new coating.

Yea it's awesome isn't it! We have a chiller by hot wax line for spot coolers. What's really bad is tracking it all up and down the rungs of a ladder too. Nasty stuff when it's on floor and stuff and warm.
