GM putting a small diesel in the Colorado and Canyon?

I thought the conversation was about pickup trucks ?
Want a diesel car, try the 2014 Cruz. Don't know how it would look with a body lift kit, mudder tires and a chrome stack.

I don't know but I can't wait to order my new gas v6 ecoboost fuel injected Freightliner. It will get 27mpg driving up mountains at 80k+ lbs. In a million miles it will only have 10 spark plug changes, 3 water pumps, air filters, and oil. My 60 series Detroit has nothing on these gas claims I'm all in!

Hey, I actually took a 24 hr test drive on a 2005 colorado. It was a nice truck, but at $27,500, it was a high price for a small truck. As long as tje diesel can be had with out buying some crazy leather, dvd, blue tooth, "unlimited" ect package, I might consider one. Can these new emissions systems simply be removed?

It is.

But since this thread is about a compact truck WE CANT GET, a comparison to a compact car of about the same size and cost, and one that everybody in NA knows may (or may not) be helpful.

Just trying to compare payback on a diesel between two of the same vehicles, sold in the same market, that have good available data on their mileage. Plus Ive owned a Jetta Diesel in the past, so Im quite familiar with them, their mileage and their expenses.

I suppose I could have done the comparison between a Ram 2500, Diesel and Petrol, but I dont have much real life experience on them, plus its a larger and more expensive truck than the Colorado.

Maybe the Hilux... but its not here either..

Feel free to do your OWN comparison if you choose

You are another example of somebody who can't tell light duty from a heavy service application.
If you want to be "Mother Trucker". Purchase a Peter Built and live your life on the road. Driving a diesel pickup to work, for groceries and in the McDonalds drive-through is living a fantasy.

Any emissions testing in your state or province? Are you concerned about manufactures warranty? How much more do you have to spend to remove the emissions after already paying the premium price for the diesel option. And paying for the higher priced diesel fuel?
You can thank the voters who keep giving the EPA more and more power to control your life and vehicles.
I keep seeing people here stuck between 1984 to 2002 in particular and even to mid 2007. Have a look at the date on today's calendar and what is on the dealer's lots now.

We can wish our spineless lazy government bureaucrats had copied Australian or western Europe vehicle specs instead of American vehicle specs. We would be all set with reliable diesels as good as or better than gassers today. Sensible diesel prices at 75-85% of gasoline prices would go a long way too.
Some people have never run the math on cost per mile on gas vs. diesel. Or they think the coloured diesel from the farm tank is "free".

Why would I buy a peterbuilt when I can get groceries in my Freightliner living the fantasy.

Oh, I agree with you on that.

But do you think our government who lives to kiss the american government's butt no matter how much they screw us over would ever go against the EPA? Not until we get some true nationalists in Ottawa who'll protect our jobs and resources and put Canada first.

Just watch how this plays out over the Northwest Passage.
