New L5740/4720 enough tractor for stacking square bales?

Congratulations on your new tractor, if I had the time to wait when we bought our M8540, I would have gotten air suspension seat and cast centers, very nice options. The range selection lever being a little difficult and may just be the way they are, mine is a bit stiff at times, but not as bad as you describe.

My sons have been reworking our shooting range and some washout areas with our M8540 and Land Pride HR3584 and the hydraulic-shuttle really is an improvement over our old synch-shuttle and the next best thing to an HST.

Your M7040 isn't the only one that's difficult to shift the manual high-low as mines still difficult with nearly 500 hrs on it. I think Kubota needs to address this shifting difficulty. I wish mine had come with an air seat also.

You need to go to Kubota forum and read the long thread on counterbalance(if you haven't already done so) and read about how counterbalance reduces stress/wear on ft axle when picking up heavy loads with FEL

I have read reports this was dealt with in the new M60 Series.

Me either, just stating Kubota is doing something about the linkage problems some of have mentioned exist on the M40 Series, I have a 12/12 and sometimes the shifts are effortless while others not so much. I haven't heard anything about them doing anything on the M40 Series, we just learn to live with it I suppose.

If I remember correctly your tractor is an open station. I wonder if shift handle is different on open vs cab tractors?

I have an open station M6040 and I find the range shift to be very awkward. The lever is buried between the right hand side of the seat and fender and is very stiff. I usually have to reach over with my left hand to move the lever because the arm rest gets in the way of my right hand. If it doesn't want to go in to the new range, it helps to let off the brake and let the tractor roll just a few inches, and then it will go.

I'll try moving a bit next time. I'm not supposed to be pushing to either side am I? just forward/back? On the cab tractors I think the position is fine. I will say though, the 8560 shifted gears silky smooth like a car/truck. I was honestly shocked. (Tier4 engine felt like a turd.) The 7040 shifts fine, just a bit of a clunk to it.

Are the skid steer levers supposed to be really stiff and such a pita? I was jumping on the bucket, kicking the **** levers etc.. I've only used the power quick tach but that dont seem normal.
