Came across this on craig's list, not very nice to look at but I think the price tag new would have been several thousand. Took it for $550, no scarifies but just heavy implement that I prefer over the lighter ones.Looking into sandblasting and possibly powder boxblade3.jpgboxblade1.jpgboxblade2.jpgcoating.

Looks pretty solid - but if you intend to move a lot of dirt, you may decide you need rippers - since most 3ph's don't have power down, you can only get so much action without them.

If you decide in favor of rippers, here's one of the better prices - TSC seems to be 2-3 TIMES as proud of theirs

Box Blade Parts

Good luck... Steve

Looks like a nice heavy blade, any idea on weight? I am sure you will enjoy it, especially since you saved a lot of money.

Thanks for the link, I do plan on getting some rippers. I estimate the weight around 1100 -1200lbs. Good thing about the box blades, they are basically the same used as they are new, can't really were them out, I'm happy about the find.

That is good weight it should cut really well. What type of retainers do you have to hold in the scarifiers?

I suspect it is the V-clips like the Gannon and some others use. If so, it would require the scarifiers with notches in them.

To the OP, congrats on the new box blade. Looks heavy duty and should serve you well.

That's a good question. I don't see any type on it, I was trying to find a picture of it new but no luck. Seems to be too old.

The scarifiers look to be the type on my Atlas box blade, the scarifiers have notches in them that set into the front and then you drop in a 1/2" diameter pin in the rear to hold the notch in place. Pretty simple but I think it weakens the scarifiers and would prefer the type with a hole in the middle that you pin in place. I have actually broken a couple of mine right at the front notch.

May not be able to wear them out but you can dang sure bend the heck out of them. Ask me how I know.

Streamin, the next time I'm out at my property, I'll take some pics and measurements of my scarifiers and the V-clips that hold them in place. I'll post them on here so you can at least determine whether it matches yours so you can include or eliminate the Gannon/Woods scarifiers and clips as a potential source for yours.

Looks very similar to my gill sr20, with the hinged scarifiers and rear blade. As MTV ranch said, mine are the notched scarifiers with a rod running perpendicular to the points. It locks in behind the scarifiers and is held in place with hitch pins. I have also sheared a couple of shanks at the notches.

That would be great, I am only familiar with the one kind and not sure if those are the ones, thanks. BTW, they want about $450 to do the powder coating, will be waiting on that for now.

I'd just paint it to match your tractor.

Here's a pic showing the scarifier clips on my Gannon, if it helps.

If you want to paint the BB, Sherwin Williams Sher-Kem (with the hardener) is tough stuff and looks good too. They can tint it pretty much any color you want. Both my trailer and Gannon were sprayed with it using a cheap HF gravity feed gun.

I agree TSC don't last but these hold up great!

If I paint any of my implements, I think I'll just paint them black. That way, I won't have to worry about it if I trade tractors.

Yes that helps, I think that is what I need however less common for aftermarket, thanks for taking that pic.

That is a great idea, it is a bit ironic that I paint vehicles all day for customers at my body shop but I am too lazy to do it on my own stuff, as the saying holds true... It is more the sandblasting that I don't care to do so the powder coating includes that but looks like I will be taking a day on the weekend to do it myself.

Sandblasting? Are you going to use it, or is this a piece of Modern art?...
