Well, you're right. I goofed it all up. The snow started out fine, but changed to freezing drizzle. Just checked the radar and it looks like precip will end in less than an hour. At least there's some crusted snow to push around.

Well nothing like I expected. Here in northCT got maybe 4-6" but was very heavy. My new reconditioned plow worked great and took 1/2 the time than last year using a bucket. IMGP2306.jpg

Well I have the hill and three drives all opened up. No sign of the town on their end but I'm sure I heard them rattling by down the road. I'll leave my own drive until they come in as I need to do a four car shuffle and rather do it just once after it finally stops. A good foot of snow but blown around so quite a bit more in low places between snowbanks.

Many UTVs use a winch for lifting the plow. Although winches normally use wire rope, the steady "up/down" required when plowing results in a lot of wear on a short length of the wire rope. It's recommended to use a strap (like some boat winches use) rather then the cable supplied with the winch. Do you use a snow plow on your Gator? If so, how does the chain work? I don't think a chain would work with a winch...not the kind I've seen on UTVs.

My Gator came with electro/hyd lift for plow.

And the rocker switch is in the cab right down by shift, diff lock and park brake for right hand.

The chain provides float.

The Eagle plow naturally floats as there is no down pressure or rigid structure between the plow and the Gator except where the plow hinges on the mounting plate (that's what the trip springs are for). Lifting is done, as I wrote, by the front mounted winch.
It sounds like your Gator has the factory setup being electric/hydraulic. That's really cool, but I didn't have the extra $2000-$3000 when I bought my 855D.
The plow I bought was used. The seller (a TBN member) bought a Boss plow, which like yours, is electro-hydraulic. $3200, IIRC.

I'll let ya'll know after the snow (12-14 inches) soaks up the rain coming down now how ready I am.

Anyone who wants it can have this proverbial hitting the fan right now.

Roy,

I understand the cost the option, mine was $710 in 2000. Just priced a new 850i S4 with the same options my 2000 6x4 has and it was over $32,000. Ouch!!

I have thought of putting two electric/hydraulic units for angle run by the same switch one wired in reverse to simulate a plow truck hyd. However with my heating setup I find myself looking forward to stepping out to cool off to turn the blade. That is plowing in at t-shirt, no gloves and stereo jammin.

My 855D is pretty bare bones...the only option was power steering since that was installed before I bought the machine. In retrospect, I wish I'd gotten the windshield...but that will come sometime.
I have added rear work lights (Deere kit) and a warning beacon (aftermarket).

$32K!!! That's more then I paid for the Gator and the 4400 combined! Too rich for my blood!

I've been promised half a foot of snow or more and gotten 0 -1/2" too many times. In South East Michigan in the last 10 years I've found that if I take the forecasted amount subtract 3 and divide by 2. If your left with a positive number that will be closer to what we get

I hear ya. Last couple years all the storms have gone up along the coast. We're north and west of the White Mountains, so we're in a pretty good shadow for coastal storms. The predictions on this storm were 8-12, we got ~6. Nice dry snow, the ATV handled plowing it just fine. Hope we get some real storms, haven't had much seat time since fall.
