Aha!.. you do have a frame of reference.. Ok. cool. you made me type out all the Euclidian geometry stuff huh?:D:laughing:... Ok.. so what is this dang thing? And have you been able to get any pix of it yet?

No pics, yet. We are in the foot hills of the Blue Ridge mountains, where the terrain is quite hilly. Somedays we can only hear it, while others it goes right over the house. I'll get it sooner or later.

Before you get too far into trouble remember a couple of 'facts'. A half decent spy sat can read your license plate so privacy from the gov went out of style ages ago. And, it might just be a bozo with more money than ethics who lives near you. Try following it home if you can. If it flies over you that often, a few tries should give you some idea of where it is headed when it leaves your property.

And, just remember that when aiming at it with your bazooka to figure out where the ammo will land if you miss. That missile will go a long way when aimed that high.

Colorado is going to start issuing hunting permits for drones. That's awesome! If its on your property, shoot it.

Pilots must remain 1000 feet over "congested areas", 1000 feet above people or structures/boats and 500 feet to the side. Defining a "congested area" legally is the gotcha. I've been flying for many years and vaguely remember 500 feet over something, but it was very rare.
There are some differing interpretations about flying over your house and such in the country, but usually you end up flying over neighbors houses low, too.
Recently saw something about a 400 foot height limit for drones and toy helicopters, but that is the HIGHEST they can fly, not the lowest. Not sure where the legal authority for that comes from but it does protect pilots and real planes.
Of course, there are elevation exceptions for take-offs and landings but they are normally well-defined by the local airport and common sense.

A few weeks ago a guy came to my door wanting to sell me a framed picture ( taking from above ) of my property of 3 acres. It was a clear nice pic but for $280.00 at least it could have been taking during the summer time when the flowers are at bloom... not in winter when everything has died off. I did not buy the picture so what does he do with it now??

If it is a R/F hobby plane look into radio frequency jamming products.

Here is a pic of the one that flew over the cabin this summer. I think it was just out taking pictures. The close up is a heavy crop.

It was flying lower but when I came out with the camera he might of thought I was going to shoot it down so it went high and away from us. Being in the part of montana we are I am surprised he would even try to fly one of these around.
