Kubota HST Side-by-Side Pedal Modification

Have you looked at the HST pedal the grand L uses? It has a section that sticks off to the side of the pedal. You can use the pedal as either the "rocker" style or as a side by side style. I never could get use to using my heal so I do the side by side. Maybe the pedals can be easily swapped.

crazyal is right about the Grand L pedal, But I have owned a B3030 cab before and my Grand L pedal cannot be swapped out. But you may be able to modify the be3030 pedal. Your pedal mounts with just two bolts and lifts straight up and out. The Grand L pedal has a totally different mounting. Cannot be swapped.

You can try to cut the B3030 pedal shorter add a wing and try and get it like the grand L shape. But I would make a new pedal all together. You can come off the factory pedal or the new pedal with a short stick shift, push the stick to go forward pull for reverse.
Forget trying to add another set up for another pedal. Those I believe are your two choices

Lucky for you the pedal on the B3030 goes front to back and not at an angle like the Grand L So you would be able to adda a push pull stick.
Unlucky for you, your pedal is not at an angle for a pedal that operates like the Grand L.

This second pictures shows what your pedal mounts to, in the upper left , that plate with two bolt holes in it.
That is all you have to work with forward and back motion.

Also the pedal on your tractor has just one small bushing it pivots on, with an added stick shift you will get more side to side play, two feet off the ground it will feel a little sloppy.

You can have a pedal made up that looks like the grand L's and mount it with just two bolts on that plate you see in the second picture.
Only it won't be at an angle like the Grand L. You would have to do some experimenting and you may get it to work like the Grand L's.
I think the B3030 has more floor space so there may be enough room for your foot.

Now, knowing how you pedal mounts, cut a piece of cardboard in the shape of the new pedal, place it on the floor and see if you can come up with a shape that would work for you and be able to mount to the piece you see in the second photo.

I gave it some more thought, I think the easiest and best way for you to do this is.
Use your factory pedal. Make the rod like this diagram, use the existing pedal mount to mount the factory pedal and the custom forward reverse stick.
All you would need are two longer bolts.
Now you would be able to use the factory pedal or the rod:thumbsup:

Glad you found it among all that other off topic stuff.
The weather is supposed to be OK here tomorrow morning so I'll see if I can get some dimensions off of my B7500 and sketch something up for pedals.
The concern that I have is where to put them that won't interfere with the brake pedals. You wouldn't want to go for the brakes and hit one of them by mistake.
I had another thought also ... what about extending the reverse pedal up near the seat so you could push it down with your right hand??

I've got the same tractor and don't like the pedal where it is because I can't use the breaks to help steer it when using my front mounted snowblower on my sloped yard areas. I've thought about adding a left side treadle/pedal that I think would work for you if you have good use of your left foot and ankle. Not a plumber but a plumber's son very familiar with using pipe for all kinds of cobble jobs and my idea is to put a pedal of some sort on the left with a rod inside a pipe that would lay across the center of the floor then welding on some type of fingers that would physically move the right side pedal. A lever/rod of some type could be used instead of the foot pedal and would leave your right arm and hand to operate your loader controls too. Another thought I had was an electric joy stick type control that could be mounted on the steering wheel using a curled phone cord type wire ( often used in drag race cars with electronics that need a thumb button to for trans brake control ) that would allow it to wind up/out around the column and
on the pedal end an electric linear cylinder to move it up and down ( which does the back and forth ) movement needed.
When I first got mine I emailed pictures to a couple of friends showing off my heated cab snowblowing and one friend happens to have lost his legs completely in Vietnam and uses hand controls on his vehicles and manages to ride his quad with a lever attached to the shifter. I offered to bring it over for him to try out and that was when I first thought about a lever attachment since he'd need it to move. How he manages to plow with his standard stick shift Ford tractor is beyond me as I haven't been around when he's used it but he has for several years now..must be a shuttle shift I guess.

There's a couple of "super fabricator engineers" here on the forum one who posted the sticker in particular that could probably design what's needed or something that would work given some thought . Not only do I wish I could think of some of the neat things these guru's come up with but have their gift of craftsmanship to go along with it. 4shorts is for sure a genious when it comes up with cool ideas done right.
I'll try and draw a couple of things I had in mind and scan them in and attach to a reply that someone else can probably figure out some trick way of accomplishing what you need to solve your problem.

Hi Al.Thanks for taking the time to post your ideas on this.The more I think about this,the more I'm leaning towards just getting a tractor that has the side by side pedal arrangement.I did test drive a JD 2032R today and found the pedal arrangement much more comfortable.I'm not 100% convinced at this point since I really don't want to give up the comfort of the heated/cooled cab.However,as great as some of the ideas you guys have contributed are,the fact remains that there is just not a lot of room in front of the brake pedals for yet more pedal(s) and linkages.Even if I were able to squeeze an assembly in that spot,I don't thnk it would be in a comfortable enough location for easy foot control.

Thanks for this Waxman.This may be the simplest solution since it would allow left hand operation.In theory,I would be able to use my right hand to operate the bucket and left hand to operate the foot pedal.

Can I ask a couple of questions? First questions. do you have the long Horizontal treadle pedal That when centered is pretty much pointing forward and backward, and is horizontal , or do you have the angled treadle pedal like on the Grand L's this is both angled to the right side of the tractor and angled up at about a 45 degree angle.?

And is the difficulty you are having if you have the horizontal pedal, the act of picking up your leg and foot from the floor to press the rear portion of the pedal to go in reverse? If this is the problem have you tried just resting your foot on top of the horizontal treadle pedal all the time and just rocking your ankle backwards to go in reverse and rocking your angle forward to go forward. Or do you not have the range of motion of your ankle to allow that type of operation? You do know on the two pedal setup you have to rock your foot forward quite a bit to go forward and of the same in revers on the opposite pedal. Do you have enough range of motion to do that OK.? I wish I could get you on my Kioti and see if it would really be better or not for you. But the majority of the other brands now use the 2 pedal setup, except the CK series Kioti, and maybe a few other, that I cant think of right now.

Hi.I appreciate all the effort you are putting into this.Yes,I do have the skinny pedal and NOT the one similar to the Grand series.The problem I have is lifting my right leg as well as lifting my foot.I can no longer put my foot under the pedal and lever it up to activate reverse.I have tried resting my foot on top of the pedal and tried rocking it back and forth.This is probably the easiest method for me but not ideal since I am 6 foot tall and my right leg ends up being in an uncomfortably high position.Maybe if the seat was 2 to 4 inches higher?

I would just need to know the height you would want for the lever and the spacing for the pedal bolts. I'll put one together and you can try it out.
