Ruger Mini 14

Just got back from range. Family members Mini-14 shot great. Except, they mounted a scope using the included Picatinney rail, that screws on top of the receiver. They degreased everything, and blue loctited, but the rail still came loose.

Use the Ruger scope rings if you mount a scope...

Shot AR's and Mini-14; like both. Like the feel of the Mini-14.

Thanks for the tip on the strut for my Mini 14. It looks like it would help.

I just got home from wally world with a new Ruger Mini-14 Ranch rifle! It's always a good day when you get a new gun. Thanks to all for the feedback and experience. Now a trip to Cabelas for some ammo.......

Congratulations on your new Mini. I think you will really enjoy shooting it. I use the Hornady Superformance ammo for varmints. It does the job very well. Here is a link:

that's where it happens.

buying ammo for a gun you don't have. then you HAVE to get a gun to use it...

Always thought they were a good looking gun. Ammo is now probably expensive and a little hard to get. But then again I used to buy ammo for a police dept and it was insane the price difference between what I bought it by case lot compared to store prices. But it was off the State bid price with each police dept in the state getting to buy at that price. Plus it never was shipped to a company even though you paid them. Saved a ton on freight over the long run I guess.

I love mine. Had it for about a year. SS and Synthetic. I bought 1000 rounds for .32 cents a round a few months ago. Now on Ammoseek.com they are at .29 cents. The prices are finally heading in the right direction. I always loved the M14 and peep sites. It was a no brainer. Besides, everyone else already has and AR or AK.

I think you will be pleased if you get one.

The good old days! Iv'e shot one of those til the barrel was a cherry red, many a time! Probably at four in the morning. Folding butt stock and surgical tubing sling! Don't even remember if it had some malfunction that caused it to fire selective. God, the neighbours must have loved me.

My POS Government outlawed that nice toy on account of some shooting of feminists in Montreal.

Many gun nuts now refer to that weapon as the "Lapeen Machine" in honour of the guy that did the shooting!

Ranch_Scope 2_compr.JPGLove my mini (Ranch, stainless, wood). I also REALLY like my Weaver 1-4x20 scope. It's little, lightweight, and "fits" just right on a mini with the factory "low" rings. I agree on the trigger job. I used "GunDoc" at GreatWest Gunsmithing (Welcome to Great West Gunsmithing). It is now the finest trigger on any gun I own or have ever fired.

The Perfect Union bulletin board has a great Mini forum - Ruger Mini-14 and Mini-30 - Shooting Sports Forum

Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine!

- Jay
