I also recommend the Hornady VMax 35gr varmint rounds. BTW, these are back in stock. At least according to a Natchez e-mail I received a couple of weeks ago.

I ordered a couple of 20 round mags and a couple of 30 round mags from Ruger. After what I read I didn't want to mess with aftermarket magazines.

The gun came with two 5 round mags and also the scope rings. I will probably use it with open sights for a while.

View attachment 353592Love my mini (Ranch, stainless, wood). I also REALLY like my Weaver 1-4x20 scope. It's little, lightweight, and "fits" just right on a mini with the factory "low" rings. I agree on the trigger job. I used "GunDoc" at GreatWest Gunsmithing (Welcome to Great West Gunsmithing). It is now the finest trigger on any gun I own or have ever fired.

It is probably fine quality wise.. of course remember it is SS109. so don't be blasting steel targets with it. Unless they want to destroy the steel. A lot of ranges will prohibit it being on the range for that reason. And of course you cannot hunt with it. But I imagine it to be good quality ammo.

Yeah I was wondering if you might know what SS109 meant, that is why I mentioned it.

sld, Hope you enjoy your mini as much as I have mine. Like others have said, stick with Ruger magazines and you wont have any problems. I think they are easier to break down and clean than an AR. The bottom one is a 1987 185 series GB model. The top one is a early 195 series that I'm guessing was made 1999-2000?
