Well I'm glad I'm not pushing that concrete snow. I grew up in Ohio and had to deal with that stuff every once in a while. The wet stuff is a real pain. Looks like most of the US is getting at least frigid weather but the NE seems to be "lucky". LOL. Well today didn't seem too cold so I hit the shop. I've gotten everything done but the electric. Getting at the pipe connection under the tractor was a fun experience. Not a lot of room for anything but stubby wrenches. I warmed up the fluid and nothing has leaked so far so I guess I may be over the hump but I have not put anything under load yet. I'll post some pictures of the valve from a different angle and how the hoses are routed underneath. When I get around to the wiring I'll show that also. Everything else is virtually identical to your installation. I'm in for a couple of days of hard freeze so I have time to assemble the connectors for the wiring. I also need to locate dust caps for the QAs. Cutting the joystick shorter is going to be necessary as getting off to the right is quite problematical.

Lowellw2, just curious if your grapple has much rust/spots where the paint flaked off or was scraped off? I'm not going to worry about the cutting surfaces, but quite a few rust spots around the pins and cylinders that I will need to touch up this Spring. I too still need to get dust caps. None of the JD or Kubota dealers around here had them in stock and the cost to ship a few dust caps from on-line sources just didn't make sense. So, I'll be going back to that hydraulic shop to see what they have. Didn't think of that when I was there Tuesday. Still no male QC's on my end. With the foot of snow we now have on the ground, I won't be using it soon, but still, I'm getting frustrated waiting on these missing parts.

We'll make you one without a mount on it! The only pin-mounts we're currently offering on our grapples are for B and BX Kubotas.

Ted / EverythingAttachments - watched you 6 minute video on your SCUT/CUT 50" wicked root grapple yesterday. Saw a post to it in the JD section. Have you thought of offering a version compatible with the new BX quick attach set up? There's a lot of BX's out there so I would think the market may be big enough to add another design. Not sure how your 50" compares weight wise to the new LP grapple; think yours is a little heavier but not sure. Anyway, more choice is always good.

Yes, Ted has been considering this even before the LP arrived on the scene. Our 50" Wicked Grapple is 274 pounds with the intermediate lower slats installed, and 255 without. That is very manageable for a BX, but not totally ideal, like a sub 200 pound grapple would be. We have sold a few of ours for BX pin-on loaders. It would be interesting to hear how those are working out.

I think that a shrunken/lighter version of our 50" grapple will be offered in the near future. We'll have to get Ted to the drawing board!!
He's been working on rotary cutters here lately. The first one of those will actually be for a B/BX.

Looks like the 50" Wicked Grapple is about 100lbs heavier (without slats) than the LP SGC05 Claw Grapple. 255 vs 156 per the literature. Of course the Wicked Grapple has more depth on the lower jaw. That may account for a lot of the weight as the upper jaw has 4 tines vs 5 on the LP. I cannot opine on the advantage or disadvantage as to the overlapping teeth on the LP vs the Wicked Grapple. I doubt the 3" wider stance would make up too much of that 100lbs. I watched the video of the tree/brush removal and it looks like a great product. Always good to have choices. One thing I could not pick up from the video is what the control setup was on the Bobcat. Send one down here and I'll be happy to do a comparison test (once I get my wiring done). You can send one for a BX24 pin on or a B7800 pin on. I'll pay return freight. :) :)

On these small loaders, an important point would be, is their load rating in addition to the weight of a standard bucket? If so, and their standard bucket weighs, say, 200 lbs, then a 300 lb grapple only reduces the lift capacity by 100 lbs.

Yes, that's very important. The LP literature says:

"The SGC05 Series Grapple weighs in at 156 lbs, only 24 lbs more than the standard BX bucket. With a stated lifting capacity of up to 518 lbs, a BX25D and SGC05 together can lift up to 360 lbs – more than enough to make quick work of the largest jobs."

There has been some prior discussion regarding the efficacy of the arithmetic used by LP in making this statement. My opinion is that if the grapple is 24lbs more than the bucket and the BX can lift 518lbs, then the proper arithmetic would be 518 minus 24 leaving a lifting capacity of up to 494lbs.

I cannot get to the 360lbs used by LP. Once I get my electric wired up I'll try to find something over 450lbs and see if I can lift it. I think a 55 gallon barrel nearly filled with water should suffice.

I have not found any paint flaking or rust spots. Here's a picture of the 3 my dealer got on their pallet and my grapple from several angles including the too long hitch.pins I used to attach it instead of the LP pins. I also attached a couple of pics of the hose routing under the floorboard and the tie up of the loop of the long hose under the rear fender. I think the ties provided are a little weak. I am going to look for some that have a metal inner core just for their durability.

Lowellw2, great pic's. Thanks for posting. Have you used yours yet for any real work? How do the joystick switches work? Momentary, or push once for on/off? On the rust/bad paint, guess I just got lucky again just like missing the male QC's (which are still not here - yeah, I know, I complained about that just a few hours ago). Years back, I received some bad hoses from Kubota related to the front mounted quick hitch for the plow. Messick's had Kubota drop ship replacements and I had the new ones in about 2 days. I would have thought LP would have sent the QC's priority shipping, but apparently not. Anyway, let us know what you think once you actually try it out.

Oh yeah, on the zip ties. I used some slightly larger ones I had on hand. I also think I used about twice the number included in the installation kit.

Aren't the connectors you need just 1/2 inch AG's? You can get them and the dust caps at Tractor supply if you have one nearby. I am sure there are also hydraulic supply houses that would have them too.
