We took some trees down today that were close to the house. The grapple was a huge time saver. We just cut the stuff down to a managable size and moved it with the tractor and grapple to keep some of the mess out of the yard. I'll cut it up into firewood later.

I don't think my l5460 would lift a 1700lb log. The FEL lift ability is the one thing I am dissapointed with.

If it won't I'd have it checked out because it should. My mx5100 moves that size of log regularly and it's no more tractor than a l5460.

my dealer is a ways away and I don't have any way to trailer the tractor. It's under warranty so maybe I should at least call the dealer and see what he says.

Drives me a bit buggy sometimes like when using the bucket. It will lift a bucket of wet gravel okay once the bucket is free, but I constantly wish for more lift when filling the bucket.

Go to surplus center and buy a gauge, hose, and quick connector, and then you will know for sure.

It should, we have basically the same loader. I could have lifted more. That whole tree I moved was heavy.

I agree. I routinely lift and move logs that size with my DK40. Ballast, not lift capacity, is typically my concern, especially when lifting just enough to travel.

Are you sure you just aren't pushing against the mound of dirt? All loaders will stall out when you try to "lift" into something immovable.

yep, when you are scooped into the bottom of the pile, and you try to lift, you are trying to lift the entire pile, you need to back out just a little bit as you curl, then lift. Harder to say than it is to do.

I can pull right into the bottom of a pile of dirt or snow and lift it. I have not had a pile of gravel to try out. IT sounds like you have a problem.
