You know, I'm not really sure. I bought that a long time ago from a friend's Grandpa, he didn't seem to know all that much about it either. Never really dug too much into it.

Something to think about is even though the tractor manufacturer remains in business it does not mean their parts supplier survives. Even Cat doesn't keep supplying all parts forever. There is a formula - no parts sold in X years and it gets dropped. Supplier is purchased by another supplier who immediately rationalizes production (that means get rid of duplications) and all of a sudden there is a scramble to find a substitute while the person with the breakdown has to twiddle his thumbs. Tractor sizes JD used to source from Yanmar and now builds the equivalent themselves - will parts remain available for a Yanmar sourced product like it will for a true JD?

True... CAT has a sign over the counter that says they service what they sell.

Up to a point... however, they have almost no inventory for gas powered CATS.
