What does your tractor start like in cold weather?

BACK ON TOPIC! Got drunk yesterday and forgot to park my machine inside last night, too many PBRs.
This morning it's +9f and she won't start. Now I'll plug it in. I hope the green camp has a good funny.

Fred, on the wagon today :)

The Fred: Your glow plugs are not working. Mine did the same. Kubota has a 40 Amp relay and the circuit takes about 60. It probably blown the relay just like mine. It is a design mistake. I went through major pain to get them to admit it and send me a properly sized relay (now 80 Amps.).

45 degrees this past weekend, no need for block heater, tractor starts real easy, but still plenty of snow to keep the wood clean, and why are my tire chains all over the place, they just wont stay on straight.

Because they are loose.

A few stout rubber bungee straps crisscrossed at 180 degree angles on the rim side should cure this. Should look like a cross when done.

you may need to put some on the back side of the rim also if you find that they are not staying put.

Hope this helps

I installed a block heater, did 50 hr service with fuel filter change an completely removed the diesel from the tank, and filled up with fresh winter mix diesel with cold/winter additive. The fuel in the clear plastic bowl remained clear and my B3200 started without even needing the block heater down too -7 degrees farenheit( according to truck thermometer)! I think the dealers advice that these new kubota diesels don't need the block heater is probably true. But the fuel has got to be water and gel free !!!!!!! In my case anyway, while the block heater adds peace of mind, all I probably needed was fresh/ polished fuel

That 3400 starts great. I have been keeping my shop at 45 degrees to save oil and you must let the glow plugs run a full cycle to get it started. You should see the black smoke roll out of it when it finally does go.

This Summer I will try to advance the timing a couple degrees and see what happens, have not been impressed with this machine. Picked up a 6 foot Taylorway 962 tiller yesterday I hope the machine runs it well.

Fred, If it would only stop snowing. 3 feet on the ground here and 4 feet just north of here 15 miles, it's crazy.

Left my 3940 outside last night. Really needed it today to move snow and ice that has accumulated allowing water to run into one of my shops. It was 37 degrees all night and there was no way this thing would start, just cranked and white smoke belched out of her. I never leave this piece of crap machine far from an electrical outlet because it does not start well so I ran a cord and plugged it in, went about ripping up ice with the excavator. Went back an hour later still no start so I checked the outlet and the ground fault had tripped. Tried another outlet and same thing, it would go about 5 seconds then trip the ground fault.

Went in grabbed my trusty old hair dryer that I used to take on snowmobile trips because at -40f in Quebec sometimes the sleds wouldn't start either so we'd throw the hair dryer under the hood for 20 minutes and be on our way. Left the hair dryer running then checked the cord to the factory installed block heater, as you can see the heater is bad letting anti-freeze leak into the plug in.

Glad the hair dryer trick worked. I've never been so dis-satisfied with a new purchase as I have with this piece of absolute crap tractor.

How cold was it in Hooterville last night that you needed a block heater? It wasn't cold enough last night where I live to need the heater, it was 30-35 degree's, and 55 today. I don't get why there's anti-freeze in your block heater plug, hopefully it's an easy fix. You must of bought your tractor from Mr. Haney, if I remember right, Oliver had trouble with his tractor too, more serious tho.

How many hair dryers are you gonna add to that thing Fred? Pretty soon you'll have enough for a proper salon!
