And another thing- it cost toyota a ****. Of a lot more $$ to step up to the plate on frames compared to a 50 cent ignition switch...

I believe that are more affected models than the trucks. Rusted brake lines have been a problem on GM's since the mid 90's.

Mid 90's? My 1991 had rusted brake lines and rusted fuel lines. I just had to replace the line from the master cylinder on my 2004. Summit sells a stainless steel kit for $300.

How many years did it take the brake lines to rust up of the 91? I know of some mid 90's GM's that had rusted brake lines when the were 4 or 5 years old.

About 7 years was average around here before you started replacing stuff.

And Toyota has been fined 1.2 BILLION for their non-existent issue; even NASA engineers could not find an issue with any of the electronics/ engine control modules. I'm wondering what GM will be fined for this 10+ year issue

Some will yell at the tops of their voices about Solyndra, but what about Ford? Solyndra got 535 million while Ford got 5.9 BILLION. It was out of the SAME DOE program for clean energy. So, if it was wrong giving Solyndra money, it must have been bad giving Ford money? It came out of the same pot!

My two cents worth says that once the warranty runs out you're on your own. It's a judgement call on someones part who is to blame whether it be the manufacturer, supplier, designer, accountant, the vehicle owner, ..etc. I have an 05 Silverado and the key chain has five keys plus the original remote, is this too many/much weight? Where is the judgement call, an engineer's, a judge's, an accountant's? Should they have put a weight limit on the key chain similar to the tire pressure sticker that's on the door post? Who was going to read the manual to find out or would want a sticker next to the key switch? I sort of like reading everyone's opinion and I have mine too. How comes we can't find a 777 in the Indian Ocean, is this Boeing's fault, Malaysian Airlines fault, Inmarsat's fault, etc. It goes on and on and media will always be supported as long as we have this insatiable love of someone else's grief or loss through the media. Good news stories just don't cut it in media as they don't make the money as do the bad news. It's all about money sadly when it comes down to it for the biggest majority of the population. As long as the judicial system keeps levying large sums of money to people it will continue. Do we have to start engineering parts and pieces and have them put before the judicial system to warrant their life expectancy before using them? Where will it all end, the lawyer's use their trade, judicial system and the media to their advantage. Why wouldn't they, it's there for the taking. There is way more money in an award than there ever will be defending an award. Nobody wins as we will always be the one's paying for both sides of the case.
