I keep telling the wife this but she has no sympathy

View attachment 369304

My wife just spent a few hours out back helping me move some dirt, she ran the old machine for a few hours and then for the last hour ran the New DK40 So if there were any doubts before on the purchase I am sure that with the few comments and the confidence she showed on the new machine they are far gone now! It is nice to have a woman who actually takes an interest in the work needed done not just sit and watch. I will almost hate to see that old JD go when I sell it but I cant keep everything or so she tells me!

I should clarify my remark about my better half, in case she ever reads this :). When I tell her the more expensive machine has a swivel seat and I won't have to get down and back up on the other seat, she has little sympathy because she knows the tlb's are quite a bit more. She thinks that's a luxury. I haven't been able to explain very well how much more capable the tlb's are because i have already told her a 3k series tractor with BH attachment will handle almost everything we need done :mur:

I feel like I am a hard worker but my wife outworks me almost everyday. She manages the rentals, but has fetched tools, run to the hardware store, clean, paint, and so forth, right there with me.

Murphy brings up a great point. For trenching I would be leaning heavy toward a tlb just for the swivel single seat.

If just digging holes for things like landscaping ponds, small trees, etc. It isn't a huge deal as you aren't constantly repositioning.

For trenching I just stick the backhoe bucket into the ground, shove the tractor ahead and keep on digging.

BullDog, Get the L45 and be done with it. It will handle all of the tasks you need a machine to do, and it will last you a very long time. You're still young and it's smart to get the proper machine in the first place. Don't let trivial things like the carport influence your buying decision as it's easily replaced. You have a long list of NEEDS, fitting the current carport is a WANT. Fulfill your needs. It's a smart move and will continue to payoff for the next few decades. The machine is purpose built for digging and moving dirt, it also happens to be able to perform standard CUT duties as an added benefit.

You will eventually regret buying another machine that isn't purpose built as the L45 is. So just buy it and smile knowing you got the machine that is exactly what you need.

I think i would need at least 20' flatbed, sounds like 24' would be best, to transport L39, L45, or M59, but is there any way one of those would fit in my 16' dump trailer? it's rated 14k lbs and has 83" wide bed. Thought i might be able to put fel over front wall. Sure would be convenient

I have the 14' PJ 14k dump about the same as yours. Might fit with the hoe sticking over the back or the hoe over the front. Would have to play with it to determine which works best for proper weight distribution. As long as the weight is positioned correctly the trailer should handle it fine. The ramps are heavy enough for any of these machines. One of the reasons I would prefer backing into the trailer is that the hoe bucket is narrow and would interfere less in tight turns plus you could likely not need to have the hoe contact the trailer at all.

New L45 with options needed wrapped into financing or slightly used M59 bare bones?

Might be able to swing a new L45 with big discount from list. Options i would like add 10k. List with options ~$55k. Now will stretch to around $45k. There's still 2012 models new for sale. Dealer should want to negotiate just worried that its been sitting on the lot not being run enough.

Can't swing a new M59. Maybe used with 200 to 500 hours. Would no warranty worry anyone enough to pass on that machine? The more powerful machine but slightly used seems wise to me if i'm holding on for a while. Don't know but I might have to get used bare bones m59 and add options, implements over a year or 2 to get low enough.

Any options y'all consider absolutely necessary from the get go? 3 ph should be one.

I'll have to go out to 82 months and pay a little interest just about any way this could go.

I would wan't all the hydraulic options, such as triple rear remotes, front aux. circuit on fel, aux. circuit on dipper. All shields such as skidplate and rear stabilizer guards and front grill guard. Alternator up grade if available. Essentially buy all the built in place items. Four post rops/fops forget the two post, protect yourself from falling debris. That is just an opinion but most tlbs' have the four post anyway.

I think it is important to get the full hydraulic options package to start with. Some of the other attachments can be added one at a time without issue such as topntilt and Brian (Fit Rite Hydraulics) can get you a better price too. When I ordered my 110 I loaded it with everything except a radio as I recall, then added the forks, box blade and Laurin cab to it. I later added a planetary hydraulic auger to the hoe and switched to quick attach hoe buckets. Also built the manlift below to fit the forks for higher work. Then bought a rock bucket. I don't have a picture of the box blade on the 110 but the hitch on the 4520 is the same. Might add a grapple next. Kubota is very similar in available attachments and I would add the attachments as the need arises budget permitting.

Test drove a B3200 HST a few days ago and like it, but still trying to figure out what size tractor is best for me. Will look into attachments you mentioned. Thanks for the advice

In later posts I am seeing a dump trailer. I recently bought a 14K Load Trail. It was priced right with 6 foot ramps to load equipment, 12V and 110V battery trickle chargers, 3 way gate, spare and roll up tarp all included. Now I am thinking my B3200 might not have enough reach to load the dump without bumping the fenders all the time. If you are going to buy a dump trailer size your tractor to load the dump trailer. The Mahindra 4110 I borrowed has no trouble loading the dump.

Hmmm ... may have to buy a new LS to load the dump.
