I'm thinking a Kubota B26 would be a good unit for what you are needing. It's a commercial grade unit, compact, and it digs well. It also has skid-steer quick attach as well as a few other nice bells and whistles. See if you can find one to test drive, I bet you'll like it.

BullDog, Get the L45 and be done with it. It will handle all of the tasks you need a machine to do, and it will last you a very long time. You're still young and it's smart to get the proper machine in the first place. Don't let trivial things like the carport influence your buying decision as it's easily replaced. You have a long list of NEEDS, fitting the current carport is a WANT. Fulfill your needs. It's a smart move and will continue to payoff for the next few decades. The machine is purpose built for digging and moving dirt, it also happens to be able to perform standard CUT duties as an added benefit.

You will eventually regret buying another machine that isn't purpose built as the L45 is. So just buy it and smile knowing you got the machine that is exactly what you need.

L45 is a **** of a machine. L45 would be much easier to pull off and will probably handle 95% of what I do, like jenkinsph said. M59 I think 99%. I'm getting greedy. With M59, a full pallet of concrete or sod would be nice to lift. Would like to expand mobile home park one day and can dig all the new utility lines. If i need a septic tank could put one in.

Would a used M59 in good shape, 500 hours or so, be as good or better as new L45?

Murphy brings up a great point. For trenching I would be leaning heavy toward a tlb just for the swivel single seat.

If just digging holes for things like landscaping ponds, small trees, etc. It isn't a huge deal as you aren't constantly repositioning.

The two jobs i have coming up are digging up old clay sewer lines. About 40' or so. Probably 50' and both wrap around the house. guessing will get down to 6'.

I would wan't all the hydraulic options, such as triple rear remotes, front aux. circuit on fel, aux. circuit on dipper. All shields such as skidplate and rear stabilizer guards and front grill guard. Alternator up grade if available. Essentially buy all the built in place items. Four post rops/fops forget the two post, protect yourself from falling debris. That is just an opinion but most tlbs' have the four post anyway.

I think it is important to get the full hydraulic options package to start with. Some of the other attachments can be added one at a time without issue such as topntilt and Brian (Fit Rite Hydraulics) can get you a better price too. When I ordered my 110 I loaded it with everything except a radio as I recall, then added the forks, box blade and Laurin cab to it. I later added a planetary hydraulic auger to the hoe and switched to quick attach hoe buckets. Also built the manlift below to fit the forks for higher work. Then bought a rock bucket. I don't have a picture of the box blade on the 110 but the hitch on the 4520 is the same. Might add a grapple next. Kubota is very similar in available attachments and I would add the attachments as the need arises budget permitting.

I agree about all hydraulic options, skid plates, and guards. Like that manlift. Would come in handy. Have a a two story i need to replace 2nd story facia. have put that off. So maybe built in place options, 3 pt, and a forklift...but might need quick connect on fel for proper forks for that manlift

In later posts I am seeing a dump trailer. I recently bought a 14K Load Trail. It was priced right with 6 foot ramps to load equipment, 12V and 110V battery trickle chargers, 3 way gate, spare and roll up tarp all included. Now I am thinking my B3200 might not have enough reach to load the dump without bumping the fenders all the time. If you are going to buy a dump trailer size your tractor to load the dump trailer. The Mahindra 4110 I borrowed has no trouble loading the dump.

Hmmm ... may have to buy a new LS to load the dump.

My dump trailer is 16'. I better get out the tape measure and measure 3 times to see if it will work. Actually taking trailer with me when i look would be best.

I would love the size because i'm going to be driving on a lot of lawns. I don't think the bigger tlb's are going to be too much of a problem though because none of these lawns are tended to everyday. They are mostly st. augustine in the city and bahaia at the park, and even during the drought over the last couple years I couldn't get a tenant to water more than once...

I am going to test drive them all. The B26 might end up being best option for me. Too bad these machines aren't on very many dealer's lots. Dragging around a 16' dump trailer all over texas won't be fun

Test drove a new M59 today. It was nice. It was basically stock and around $52k. They are getting an L45 in in a week or two. Stock was $44k. Asked, salesman if I bought m59 today what would he take off. Said $1000. I said i would wait and look at L45. A couple of other dealers are getting quotes for me also. There's a rental yard not far with an m59 i could rent for one day for $140. If dealer won't let me demo i might rent the one i think i'll get to make sure it will work for me.

I thought I would have to hire out this cleanup to a dozer which i'm sure would be the best route, but could the M59 handle this with a grapple bucket and thumb? 6 acres with downed trees, metal, and trash. Was bush hogged 4 years ago.

Once you figure out what tractor you want get prices at 3-4 dealers to see who has the best deal. The bucket on that M59 is huge!

I would clean that up with my L4240.

You can do that clean up but it will take some time to do. Glad you had the chance to see an M59 too, but don't buy one without the extras mentioned above.

Nice tractor. I see my chainsaw wouldn't be needed as much as i thought :)

The quotes i should be getting tomorrow on the m59 and L45 will include those. With the m59 loader on top of the front wall of my dump trailer, the length from front grill to the gap in the backhoe is 14'. it should fit. it is big. haven't figured out how to talk to my wife about the price. Might try the "it's better to ask forgiveness" approach :)

That is simple tell her that with this larger tractor you will be able to do more work and it will save money over the long run and you will be able to get jobs done faster so you can spend more time with her.

I hope you can work this out because I feel strongly that this is the right machine for your use. I have worked to build up my equipment over time, add an implement here and there. I think a fully loaded M59 can do almost all of the work you will have to do which means you won't be needing to trade up later. As a tractor a 60 hp compact can get a lot of work done on a six acre property. More importantly I would think you will be in a better position to do most of the jobs without the other rental expenses and other contractors.

If you do use your dump trailer to move the tractor I would have a support added to the front of the trailer to protect it and also secure the fel arms while transporting. A cradle for the fel arms is what I meant to say.
