How much do you pay to have your ride detailed?

Vacationing in the Daytona area now. Was looking for a place to get a Harley Fat Boy detailed. A certain large Harley dealer wanted $185 for my bike and $230 for my friend's HD trike. Needless to say we passed.
At the other end of the spectrum, I took my F150 to the local Coconuts car wash after a 1200 mile trip from home. For $25 they went front to back, top to bottom and did a nice job. I threw $10 in the tip bin and drove away happy.

Beautiful job on the F-150.

Thanks, I know I still have room for improvement.

$185 may not be bad depending on what all they were doing. More than likely they are charging a high price because of their location.

I don't know how they can clean a truck for $25. I wouldn't wash it for that. I know I am too cheap for what I do. It is hard to charge a decent price with a big car wash in town that cleans vehilce $75 and up. I think most good detailers are getting $40+ a hour.

Obviously this outfit does not take the time and do the painstaking work that you do. It is what it is. Here's how it works at Coconuts: you pay at a machine for the package you want. Then, before you enter the automatic car wash, there are 3 or 4 young people that hit the really bad spots by hand as well as a quick pass over the windshield.
After the auto wash, you pull under a carport area where 3 or 4 more young people attack it inside & out. The truck was wiped clean of water spots, windows all cleaned inside & out, dash/door panels, etc. cleaned, floor vacuumed, mats removed & washed, door jambs/rocker panels wiped down. For the money spent and the relatively short time there it was a bargain in my opinion.

The big car wash in town works the same way as Coconuts.

Thanks Murphy. The color is not really hard to get. When I was looking at trucks I found 2 others this color equipped almost identically that were this color. A guy up the road just a truck that its twin. You can also get this color on the Superduty and maybe Taurus. The color is called Green Gem. It looks black most of the time. When it is under a lot of light or real clean it will look green/er. Ford also had a color on the Mustang called something like Lava Red Metallic that looked black most of the time but was red/maroon.

For over 50 years I did my own vehicles. But due to age, Lazy, life I had my 2003 Silverado detailed by a local detailer. The truck had sat over a year outside under a neighbors pine tree. It was covered with pine sap and generally real dirty. They charged me 265.20 to do the entire truck. This truck only was washed yearly up to this point at a local carwash. I think they did an excellent job and was real happy with the results. I plan on doing my new truck myself but have to wait until the pollen stops falling as it turns yellow every day sitting in the car port. Remember this truck had sat for over a year without being touched.

Looks like they did a good job and the price was reasonable.
