Go Away GM

Renze, very true. Accidental discharge is very expensive. But again, consider the intent of the design and tcreeley's story. Without airbags he probably would have buried a Son over an auto accident.
just have one part of my previous S70 laying around after taking the pedals out of it for our sand rail, but we didnt manage to let the airbags go off even after putting a log upright on the back seat, hooking a chain to it through the skihatch and the open trunk lid, and blasting off to the end of the 4 meter chain, attached to the tractor. We made it a Volvo El Camino, though i had to pull twice to rip that part out of the back.. sturdy built. Later we found some kind of ballast weight between the seats, which most probably is the dead weight that senses the G forces for the airbag to go off. I've hit trees and towbars before, but no airbag deployment.

Also, does anyone remember Ford's "park to reverse defect" ? It involved Fords made from 1966 to 1979 and killed 98 people. Ford's "fix" was mailing the owners a warning label.

Right. All manufactures skate on what should be a recall. It is not unique to GM.

No personal attack intended or implied. I think the Corvette and the Camaro are the two worst models that Chevrolet offers. I base that on having friends that own each. The Corvette has cost Chevrolet millions of dollars over the years trying to keep an "American Heritage" alive. The Camaro is the worst of the retro cars, i.e., Mustang, Challenger, Camaro.

well the Camaro has been outselling the Mustang and Challenger when (averaged monthly sales) since 2009...
Although I like my old Pontiacs and even Jeep/AMC i think the Camaro is a good looking rig... and that's jmo

Apparently some others like the looks-- Are your friends having problems with the camaro and vette?

The Corvette and Camero have more to do with the portfolio of models than a profit on the respective model lines. Otherwise Chevy could go the path of Oldsmobile, your father's Oldsmobile. I own both a Chevy and a Cadillac plus two Fords with no regrets. All good vehicles.

GM is back in the courts seeking protection from law suits. I wish that GM will just fail and drop off the map. No such thing as too big to fail.

Smart man if he owns a BMW instead of a GM.....

By the way, I just sold my BMW. Awesome car that never gave us a day of trouble. Proudly replaced it with a Ford.

My only new car ever was bought while I was in Germany and shipped back to the States... it was a 2002 year model BMW 325iT

Twelve years old and no issues... never planned to keep when I got home... liked driving it so much on the autobahn in Germany so I kept it.

As stated my work trucks are old GM and no complaints there either...
