Craigslist translator

I have put the "posting for a friend in an ad before" - the reason was if I just put a phone number I also get a bunch of emails asking about it, then have to reply saying it is not mine and you need to call the number. Seemed to help but I must admit I still got a few emails anyway. A lot of people much rather email or text than talk to a human for whatever reason. Personally if I am really interested I really want to talk to you so I can find out the most information and get a "feel" for the seller.

That makes sense.

I think now craigslist allows you to disable the "reply by email" option.

Too bad. 99% my first response will be email. If call only, I usually don't. Figure they are wanting me to call to give hard sell.

In my experience, the older generation wants to talk over the phone. I'm one of the young guys, so I prefer text or email.

Nice to know that not quite 68, I'm still one of the younger fellas. :)

Got a call late one night from a drunk woman that wanted to buy my tires. Shoulda had her come over.

You get the same thing with Uncle Henry's though. Years ago (long before Al Gore invented the internet :D) I advertised a 16 gauge DB shotgun...

I don't remember how many times one drunk guy kept calling about it, weeks after it was sold. One thing about the internet, you can delete an item when it's gone.

Back in 2000, I listed a Kubota for sale on this website. It could not be deleted. I got calls YEARS later.

Back in the early days of the web, webmasters had lots of old for-sale listings cuz otherwise they looked
vacant. Also happens with some newer websites, unfortunately. I am a big fan/user of ecommerce, since
even before the web.
