Mahindra 4530 won't start

I'll start off by saying that I used the tractor last weekend. I went out to use the tractor this morning and I turned the key on and the heater light came on and went off about 45 seconds later. I then turned the key to start the tractor and the starter only clicked. I then checked the battery and it is fully charged 12.91 volts. I then tried it all again, as I turned the key on to initiate the heater and the light didn't come on but a loud humming noise started. I then tried to start the tractor and the starter only clicked again. I then started checking the all connections and they were all good. I then checked the fuses and started pulling them, when I pulled the solenoid fuse and loud humming noise stop and I then tried the start the tractor with the solenoid fuse pulled and the starter still only clicked. Is my solenoid bad or is it my starter or can someone please give me some ideas what else I might need to look into.

i'd try another battery...just cause it has 12 volts doesn't mean it has the amps to turn the starter, could have a bad cell,

Check your ground cable where it connects to the frame. It is a point where corrosion can build up causing a poor connection. Battery voltage would read good. Also check where the battery hot cable connects to the starter for corrosion as well.

Well howdy neighbor.one other thing you might check is all of your safety switches,one on the shuttle and one on your high low selector.

I finally figured it out. Bad cable from battery to solenoid. Was only getting 10.7 volts at the solenoid. Replaced cabled and we are back in business.

Glad you got it going. I bet if you cut the insulation off the old cable you'll find some corrosion.

I did and you are exactly right.

remember the voltage readings can fool you without a load..
12volts (unloaded) aint nothing if the voltage drops 50% with load.. Glad you got it fixed, my battery cables need constant attention
