thanks. no mods for me;other than a tan pinstripe and some mud flaps.
well, not until the warranty is long over. hard to believe I'd need more than the current ratings.
this truck came with Korean Nexxen tires, which are pretty unknown, but likely a better tire than the General Ameritechs that are oem simply because they
are the cheapest tire on the market. With horrible reviews at tirerack.com. Well, if I don't like the Nexxens, there is always Michelin but I don't think I'll swap them out to start, unless any of you have had the Nexxens with really poor results.

Congrats, modding a truck is an addiction, probably worse than acquiring tractors and associated toys, er tools.

Which trans did you get? I hope the Aisin

Congratulations on the new truck! ATM lanes can be a challenge. When you tow that 5th wheel, get your rig straight with the toll booths too. :) With my 8' wide rack-side bed, I run with the mirrors folded out all the time.

thanks. yes, it seems almost a standard add. Ran fine, seemed a little slow to get moving, a little bog but a lot of weight to get moving even with 4.10 gears. I was all set to see the tach at 2500 or something with those gears but no way, looks like about 1900 rpm at 62mph. Will be curious to see what rpm it runs at 70 in case I'm unloaded. Now the question is will the torque of this motor, which is about double the torque of my previous Ford V10 gasser, will it hold the top one or two gears without a sweat under load? Hoping it will, particularly if I'm only pulling eight tons.

something else I found interesting. Passenger side center intrusion into foot space was serious. That engine/trans under there really hogs up some room, the floor foot well is deep but not too wide. Nice steering wheel, easy to read buttons, all seemed nicely laid out. Standard inverter for AC, but no Ram boxes, bummer. All that wasted space in those huge fenders back there.

One thing you'll notice is the powerband of the Cummins and specifically the torque that's available all across it. The Cummins, and diesels in general, tow dramatically different from a gasser. The days of downshifting on grades are pretty much over for you...just the purr of the Cummins and the turbo singing to you a bit.

turbo has to spool, so there might be a little lag there (haven't driven a new dodge).

depends a lot on the road, but on the interstate it should

that big downpipe/exhaust has to run somewhere

i find i use that space, personally i wouldn't want those boxes i think they are ugly too. but if you think it's a bummer then it's a bummer

I just think not using that space for something worthwhile, even if accessed from the inside, is well, a waste of space... Extra fuel tanks?

From the owner " cheapest tires , slow out of the gate " My other brand came with Michelin tires, turns 1800 at 70 MPH also sunroof, nav, heated and cooled seats for same amount of money.
Compare all brands before writing 50K + check.

actually I was complimenting, I think, this truck because it did not have the cheapest tires. It just had a brand unknown to me, but South Korea makes very good tires with very good quality control. Kumho for example makes great trailer tires. I usually swap out all my car and truck tires, usually with Michelin, but I'm curious to see how these work out. Sure wish TireRack would include them.

as far as acceleration, I got in to this thing from my toyota avalon, which has a non linear accelerator; i.e. press down twenty percent and get thirty percent in return. Needs a gentle touch. The Ram seems much more linear, when I put my foot in it, we truly surged forward. I was still learning my clearances so I wasn't exactly doing bootleg turns with it, but it ran fine. And was pretty quiet too. More steering effort than I expected; again coming out of a very low effort car, but my suburban has easier steering. I really liked the fact that I could read the controls easily, unlike GM.

I think I have read every review every written on the big three HD truck brands. Although not the offroad stuff, no interest in it.
I honestly think they are all good and all more than I need. The last Dodge I had was an Intrepid company car, when all the other guys had Tauruses.
Boy they liked that Intrepid when it came in, much roomier inside and the base engine had more guts than the Ford plus it handled better. That model did have some issues, including an entire new V6 engine in the first two weeks. I did the fleet buying for the company and I must have bought a dozen Tauruses over the years. But no trucks, which is why I've asked all these questions.

and yeah, I clipped a curb, just a little curb. :ashamed: I'm sure it hurt my pride more than it did that tire. In my defense we were coming out of an overflow parking lot that only the dealer car parkers used, so boy clearance was tight. Swing out, swing out...
