I have no problem with violating a thief's 'confidentiality'. There should be consequences to that kind of behavior. Victim's rights trump criminal's rights in my house.

There were consequences; he was fired.

That's right, a proper resolution. And look at the reaction it garners. Why is it necessary to glamorize criminal activity??

I like all but 1 CB I have eaten at, I will continue to eat at them. This story has no bearing on my choices of where I choose to eat. The vet violated his obligation to his employer,,,several times. He showed the lack of respect for his employers terms IMO. Being a vet does not sanctify poor decisions.

Only a muffin and a soda, but not the first time, and he'd been warned before. How much do you think a thief should be allowed before there's a penalty for it? $5, $10, $100??? Where do you draw the line? I've known of retail stores arresting people for shoplifting $5 worth of merchandise. Do you think those thieves should be given a free pass?

Jeez, and I thought is was just ISIS that wanted Sharia Law...

Do you just say things like that to get a rise out of people? Or are these truly your heartfelt opinions we are seeing here?

Because the perp is a Veteran and this happened on Obama's watch? That's my best guess.

CB is perfectly within their rights. So the veteran has given away maybe $5 worth of goods against the rules. Fire his butt! Other than breakfast the food at CB is inedible anyway - doubt I will be going there much, and even less now.

I like your mentality. It's only $5.

Crakcer barrel employs around 70,000.

Let's say half of that works at all their restaurant locations (consevative number I'd guess).

Let's say only 10% of their employees gave out $5 worth product to those in need, and they did it once a week.

From the above, the company would be "giving" away close to $1,000,000 per year in charitable "contributions" it can't keep track of, not including what people (customers and employees) are steeling in general and keeping themselves.

You run a business and have YOUR employees give away YOUR money to people in need and see how you feel about it. Don't keep track of it and don't hold people accountable for breaking the rules, you won't have a business for long.

The guy was written up multiple times for the giving away product. He wants to donate to those in need and keep his job, pay for the $5 muffin himself.

Giving away your own stuff is charity. Giving away somebody else's stuff is theft. Doing it 5 times is chronic theft. Doing it 4 times after being told not to is stupid. Being a vet is immaterial to the "story".

Rick, you are a wise man!

In defense of Cracker Barrel, our local one provides health insurance for part timers.

If I say it, I feel it. You should know that by now. CB could have gone another way. Seems a simple case of a muffin getting in the way of their millions.

Could have gone another way? And which way would that be?
