Your last generator Maintenance Run

Well, the "tail" or hurricane Arthur ( most likely a tropical storm here ) have knock down a lot of trees in the area since the morning, Power been out since 10:00am. First time around here in decade if not the first time ever that the power been takin down by a tropical storm / hurricane, times are changing I guess.....

I check hydro Quebec site 20 min ago an most of the county were still with no power.

I got the champion generator running from 3 to 5, and started it again at 7:30 and will most likely let it run untill 10-11.

My 2nd generator is running my dad´s place.

This is the only the 2nd time I am loosing power for more than 1 hour since the house got built in 2009.

Fi - here's hoping that you get power back soon, and that you have plenty of gas/fuel on hand till then.

As of now, still with no power. I have 2x5 gallons jerry can full and the genny is still over half full..... the gas dtation near buy is running on generator an can serve gas ! So far, eerything is fine ... It´s an adventure

Did you see homes with physical damage from wind, falling trees, etc or was it mainly the power grid?

It seems rural gas stations are a bit better at having backup power than many city stations - people complain about the price of gas - but what if you can't get any - what's it worth then ?

If the outage area is big enough, line crews will be coming in from all over to help. Better now than in the Winter, but even so, I'm wishing everyone affected has a safe transition back to live line power.

Or it could be like the 4th of July where shooting guns into the air took out power lines and one of the falling lines electrocuted one of the revelers.

Utility crews came out to restore power and left... citing employee safety from the continued gunfire.

Power was not restored until the following day...

Power got back for most of the bonaventure county at 4;00pm yesterdAy

There was tree fallen over power lines every where, and many post were down.
The pole that feeds my dad & his neigbor is on a 45 angle right now ( Dad still without power).
My uncle went to get his generator at his cottage and instead of being a 20 min ride, he came back, got his tractor and chainsaw and it took him hours to get there cause there was so many fallen trees on te road

There was a crazy line up at the gas station, I thunk they may be the only ones with a genny. And you have to pay cash, debit / credit terminal not working.

Sounds like a mess and good time to have a tractor, chainsaw and cash. Glad you got power back.

Good news Fi, now you can concentrate your fuel reserves on your Dad's generator.

I think Florida (?) has mandated standby generators for a certain percentage of gas stations, but it's not common in most areas.

I don't see much TV, most weeks. I guess I missed it..... sounds like The Darwin Awards now has a weekly reality show ?

If I'd never read any of your other posts UR, I'd assume from reading only that one that you were a joker that was spinning a yarn...... truth is stranger than than fiction !
