I tried this for one can, almost empty now, hoping for something noticeably better than WD-40. It may be better, but where I used it, I saw no difference.

I still use WD40, but only for areas I am cleaning and want a nearly dry light film. My PTO shafts, for example. I spray them with WD40 and wipe them clean with a rag. All other areas that I want to lube, or prevent rust or corrosion, I use Fluid Film. The only other lube I use is Liquid Wrench HD spray silicone, for my vehicle door seals etc.

I keep a gallon of wd-40 around, but only for protecting something, it is not a lubricant, other than something being wet rather than dry.. It's claim to fame is it's water displacement and it holds up to that fame as long as you keep it on the item.

The best spray lube ever made was Mobil 1 spray lube and for reasons unknown they discontinued it..

There is a product brand known as PJ1 that scored big in the motorcycle business and makes several spray products. Their cable lube is a good spray for everything with both cleaning ability as well as a true lubricant. They have a spray engine assembly lube if you really mean business.. I sometimes can find the cable lube at walmart..

Lastly, liquid wrench makes a line of several sprays that are easy to find and I've had good luck with them too..

I finally found a dealer (JD tractor) with Fluid Film and bought a can. I'll be trying it as needed, since my M1 is almost empty.

I handled one last week. They have doubled in weight since my Army service in the early 60's.

What he said! I had never heard of fluid film before TBN. I use it all the time now.

PB Blaster for penetrating oil.

Inhibitor VCI for protection. (guns and tools)

Vermeer or JD chain and cable lube for baler chains.

I use more WD40 for washing my oily hands than for anything else.

PB Blaster has loosened some rusted bolts that I knew would never come off, but they did.

I used to use PJ1 on my dirt bike chains and it is amazing for leaving a thick grease behind after penetrating like WD40.

High quality gun oils work good on many things besides guns.
