We make beer cans out of aluminum. They carry 12-16 oz of beer that has an active consumer life of 10-30 minutes, then the aluminum is discarded to be recycled.
I guess I missed your point...

Yep. Obviously you have never compared the price between steel and aluminum. It's not even close.

If you are comparing pound for pound, of course. Steel is a lot heavier, and you need more weight for the same strength.

Now, if you compare strength, Al is not much higher. I think the total cost of the Al F150 is only about $400 more than the steel version. So, it's not really that far apart.

I would expect the Ram Eco-diesel to use a lot less fuel than the Ford or Chevy. The more hills the bigger the difference would be. I also think you are correct, the cost per mile would balance out and be close though.

Looks like Ford is intentionally hiding the RPM's you have to twist this little motor to, to make any power. I couldn't find a single google hit to an actual HP@RPM for this. Hmmm... LOL

So at what RPM's does this little buzzing motor make it's 'advertised' HP#, and torque#???

Well Ford guys? You can't answer this one?

Well Ford guys? You can't answer this one?

I did, asking you a question trying to find out why you think it's 'buzzy', but you failed to answer that. Why the constant bashing on the 2.7L? You've seen nothing of it but one video, and it completely spanked the Ram in that video. So, why the hate? Why don't you do a little research before you start bashing. Geez!

And I don't get where you guys think this is a 'buzzy' engine. It's a turbo-charged 'diesel-like' gasoline engine. Go drive and EcoBoost 3.5L with a load and you will find it's not 'buzzy'.

My guess is that the torque peak (more of a plateau) is around 2500 RPM like the 3.5L EB.

The 2.0L and 2.3L are I4 engines.

The 2.7L and 3.5L are V6's.

Here are the numbers on the 3.5L V6. I would expect the RPM to be similar for the truck-tuned 2.7L

365 hp (272 kW) @5000 rpm, 420 lb·ft (569 N·m) @2500 rpm

Does that make you feel better DarkBlack?

I feel good.
I think your answer stinks. Why would post the #'s for the 3.5L when we are talking about the 2.7L:confused3:

Why is it that these threads always end up with a bunch of Ford smack talk? Have you noticed that? Happens every time. You guys are not here to have a conversation you are here to insult anything Dodge you possibly can and quite frankly the same reason why I have a hard time taking you guys seriously. If you don't have something nice to say, well you know the rest.

The reality is that most comparable trucks are pretty similar between the manufacturers. 1 might have 20 more HP and another might have 200 pounds more payload or tow rating but in reality they are likely within 5% of each others ratings in just about everything. No reason to get all worked up over what amounts to nothing and hijack a thread.

Because we don't have the actual numbers yet, so we are using an existing engine built off of a similar architecture as an example.

Seriously, are you doing anything other than bashing the Ford simply because it is a Ford? Open your eyes and your mind and you can see what's going on...Ford is releasing an awesome engine in an awesome truck. You're just hurt because it isn't your brand that's doing it.
