Only Ram adopting the new tow ratings.

Why is it that these threads always end up with a bunch of Ford smack talk? Have you noticed that? Happens every time. You guys are not here to have a conversation you are here to insult anything Dodge you possibly can and quite frankly the same reason why I have a hard time taking you guys seriously. If you don't have something nice to say, well you know the rest.

The reality is that most comparable trucks are pretty similar between the manufacturers. 1 might have 20 more HP and another might have 200 pounds more payload or tow rating but in reality they are likely within 5% of each others ratings in just about everything. No reason to get all worked up over what amounts to nothing and hijack a thread.

Where did I insult Dodge? DarkBlack is the one hurling insults at the 2.7L that he knows nothing about. I have given Ram props for bringing a diesel to market to help those who must have a diesel. I have also stated that it's probably not the best solution in a half-ton given other alternatives, or new alternatives in the pipeline. That's not insulting, just stating facts!

I have also mentioned that no matter which truck you buy, it will be a good truck. In my experience, the bashing comes from other brand fans, and the Ford fans just end up defending Ford. Read back through this thread and see who has hurled the most negative things, or the words with the most negative connotation. It's not the Ford fans.

Because we don't have the actual numbers yet, so we are using an existing engine built off of a similar architecture as an example.

Seriously, are you doing anything other than bashing the Ford simply because it is a Ford? Open your eyes and your mind and you can see what's going on...Ford is releasing an awesome engine in an awesome truck. You're just hurt because it isn't your brand that's doing it.

Actually you need to open your eyes, Dodge has released an awesome diesel engine in a 1/2 ton truck.

You should start a Ford thread and discuss it's new great engine and truck there instead of hijacking the all the dodge threads and turning them into eco boost threads.

Your last statement pretty much explains why YOU are here on a Dodge thread bashing the 1/2 ton diesel.

So, this thread, titled 'Only Ram adopting the new tow ratings.' is only a Dodge thread and not a thread about adopting tow ratings? I can't bring anything to the discussion about Ford adopting the new standards? Really? Here was my post on the matter. It's missing the quote about Ford adopting the new standards. It just so happens there is more information is in that link and others ran with it.

Again, I would like for you to point out where I bashed their diesel. I haven't seen it.

OMG, some people just want to fight. You are right Fordman. No ford guys are hijacking Dodge diesel threads at every opportunity. I just imagined reading all the anti Dodge posts from Ford guys. Have a great day.

OK, you said that I was bashing Dodge trucks. You even capitalized 'YOU' pointing at me. I just asked for you to point out where I was bashing Dodge. Why is that fighting?

Within 700 lbs is not 'at its max capacity'. That that Ram EcoDiesel with 850 lbs of payload. Say you are towing and need 1200 lbs of payload. Add just half of that 700 and you are fine. 700 lbs is a LOT of extra payload!

700 lbs can be a lot or a little depending on your perspective.

if you are one of the few that would benefit from more capacity great, however i doubt many people who will buy this run of fords (2015-?) will need it. and if you need it, as in your are at your max capacity everyday or several time a week you'd be better served with a larger truck as opposed to running at the limit all the time

Lighter weight will also help with mileage. Less weight to get moving at each stoplight means better mileage.

I did, asking you a question trying to find out why you think it's 'buzzy', but you failed to answer that. Why the constant bashing on the 2.7L? You've seen nothing of it but one video, and it completely spanked the Ram in that video. So, why the hate? Why don't you do a little research before you start bashing. Geez! My guess is that the torque peak (more of a plateau) is around 2500 RPM like the 3.5L EB.

I have it on good authority that the torque peak of the 2.7L is in a similar RPM range as the current 3.5L EcoBoost.

Which is exactly what I would expect.

This thread is about towing. The diesel Ram doesn't have enough payload capacity to tow and haul a family at the same time without exceeding it's payload. 700 lbs would allow the wife and kids to go camping and ride with dad. It would also be the difference of taking firewood and bicycles vs buying and renting them at the campground. You shouldn't need a 3/4 ton pickup to haul a 6000 lb camper or boat a few times a year. Ram makes a fine truck but it's payload capacity is much lower than the competition. I am anxious to see the new payloads for Ford and have to believe they are going to be in 3/4 ton ranges for the F150.
