Rotary Cutter 12 Foot Batwing Rotary Comparisons

RMRDallas,

Have you made a decision yet? I live over in the Abilene area so I am fairly close to you. I also am looking for a 12' flexwing shredder. I would like to find a used one as I hate to pay new price. I have a 57 pto hp tractor that I think would pull any of the three shredders just fine. I have been lusting after the Rhino TS but only because it is the one my dealer sells and the only one I have seen in person.

I currently use a 7' Rhino mostly on 5-20 acre lots. I recently mowed a 50 acre pasture that I sure would have liked to have had a 12' mower on. Later in the year I have a couple of 100 acre CRP pastures to mow and would like to have a wider mower for them.

Please let us know what you decided on and why.

Tim

Hey Tim - as others have stated, I don't think you can go wrong with any of the 3 choices. I am probably going to get the Land Pride due to the higher blade speeds. My dealer in Sherman only carries the Land Pride and Rhino.

I get frustrated using a 7ft on anything over 5 acres - 15ft batwing is the way to go! haha

I'd get a 15ft if I had enough horsepower but just thankful they make a 12ft for my size tractor! :)

I have a Bush Hog 12ft. flex-wing. I really wished I had looked at the others first. Blade speed isn't really an issue because Bush Hog is the slowest if I remember correctly, and it cuts fine. I pull it with a M5040 without any trouble. I guess it depends on what you will be mowing, but for me I think I would prefer the Rhino.

I guess you haven't felt what it feels to run a 4ft in a few acres or a 5ft in about 7acres

They had some 12' land prides on sale in Wichita Falls last year for almost half price. I didn't get one because it seems like an odd size to have a flex wing. 14' straight cutters are very common in my area. If I wanted the complexity of a batwing it is going to be 15' plus probably 20'.

Wow, wish I new that last year!
