YANMAR front right hub/ wheel wont turn? 2210BD. Looking for some advise?

What do the lower gears look like? #1 and #53 in this nice Hoyes drawing. Yanmar Tractor Parts: 4WD INTERNAL

Any slack in the bearings?

Im going back in, I guess I have to take this pig apart to get to those gears. I just updated the pics and am heading back out.

I can't get it separated. Now that its disconnected from the tie rod, I can spin the hub pretty easily, no friction. When looking inside, you can see this? It looks like a metal holding ring that screws on to keep the gear in place. However it looks damaged? or is this how they keep them from rotating off, with a folder down side?

I removed the six bolts that attach the "final gear case" (as they call it) to the housing. I cant get it off however. I have banged on it trying to get them to separate but no luck.

If it spins freely so I dont know if its in the final gear case or the BEVELED GEAR above it somewhere. I hate to dig into the other stuff until I can make sure its not this final gear case/ hub im working on.

In any case, here are some updated pics. My other issue is that Im long on tools for american stuff and short on metric. UGH.

Ok, so here is the gear out of the housing. Hoye says the retaining ring looks that way because they use a chisel to set it. So that means my issue may be further in --UGH.

This metal ring I have sitting offset here to see it, was sitting in here when I opened it up. I am guessing on the shaft and slid down into the final gear case upon disassembly. it in

It obviously goes into the gear shaft as I have it in pic 3.

And then just the metal o ring that sits atop the rubber seal.

So at this point im at a loss. I don't see anything in the hub that looks real bad. Aaron from the tech support at Hoye says he believes it was in the hub because of how I described the wheel wanted to snap from side to side and locked up as thats indicative of it not being further in. There were some very small particles of something hard in the bottom of the case,but they were very small and in the thicker muck that I CLEANED OUT. I dont see any issue with the gear above either the one in the beveled case.

I can spin this hub freely now that its clean and it will spin nicely.

Winston, #1 is the big gear in the hub, its the one picture throughout my pics. This is #53 and I CAN only see the bottom unless I take ore apart. But the bottom looks fine.

First thing you really need to do is drain all that water logged crud outta there and clean everything up and do the same with the transmission and rear differential. Amazing what mechanical stuff will withstand...

In as much as I don't own a little Yanmar I'm not sure what broke but, by the looks of the retainer ring, it appears some shadetree mechanic has already visited that spot.

Good luck and NEVER RUN IN 4WD UNLESS THE FRONT END LOOSES TRACTION,,,,,,,,,,,,,NEVER. Not only is it extremely hard on the driveline, it eats tires up right away. The guy at the stealership (not misspelled), out to be hung up by his balls. he's an idiot for telling you that.

It only rakes a tiny sliver of metal in the gears to lock the gears up.

With the front end jacket up and turning the unmolested wheel what do you hear or feel?

you had mentioned and taken a picture of the knuckle in post #1 indicating the crack was wider on one side of the knuckle. That is not suppose to be. In order for that to happen there has to be a loose bearing, worn shaft or something in that knuckle assembly in order for it to do that. You have probably said and I missed it but where are you located?

Winston Im in Idaho, an hour plus north of Boise. A recent escapee of Northern Nevada.

Ok you asking how the remaining wheel feels now that its in the air? And yes it did seem when I initially looked at it that one gap was wider than the other on the hub from side to side but that seemed slight and changed after I leveled the tractor.
Aaron from Hoye said some times small pieces will get caught between the gears and when you take it apart it clears them. So Im debating putting it back together and refilling it and seeing if its fixed or do you think I should take the beveled upper apart and see what up inside that first. Then the poster above 5030 mentioned that one of my parts looks like its the wrong part or something so maybe I should figure that out and order it after I figure out the rest.

I just went out and checked the GOOD WHEEL/ HUB. In 2x4 it spins freely. In 2x4 in neutral it will not spin.
