Wrong again. Never claimed to be a pro logger, ever. I did however work as a trained tree surgeon, prior to top handle saws being commonplace; in fact before chain guards or brakes even existed.

The 192t isn't a pro grade saw as a matter of fact.

Correct, a MS192T is not pro grade, but it is pro rated.

It is pro rated due to the inherent dangers (even with both hands on the saw) that the saw can more easily kick back due to how close together your hands are. You loose leverage control on the saw the closer the hands are together. Imagine trying to control a saw with both handles on the wrap bar. Can't be done. I have cut professionally and I have cut with one hand. But never on a risky cut, only when the limb being cut is totally clear. Top handles should be professionally used in all cases.

So how much better is the 562 over the 361? I hear the 562 eats wood.

yes, it is faster and feels better in the hands to me. Has more torque in the cut and quicker acceleration. I love this saw

What an interesting and at times very stupid discussion. "pro grade vs home owner". The truth of the matter is that the designation has ZERO to do with who is running them. It is solely the quality of saw. That difference is highlighted by the great increase in price of pro vs home-owner.

All top handles are, or should be, marketed 'for professionals only' due to the inherent danger of one handing - nothing to do with the grade of he saw. They come on both grades.

In the case of Stihl (don't know about others) but homeowners have plastic cases, pro-grade a magnesium. There are other changes also.

Again it is a question of QUALITY not ability to use one and a pro-grade is no more (or less) dangerous than a homeowner grade.

Been doing 10+ cords/yr since 1976 (retired from AF) and before that as a teenager used the old gear drive Macs and even once on a two man Mall back in the early 50s. Just put up my saw stable for the year and maybe forever - I have more wood in my wood yard than I will ever use in the years I have left.

Like I said before, I think that the tool needs to match the job at hand. No point trying to block up a 30" log with a 12 inch saw. No point trimming a small bush with a 36" bar and no pint trying to slab with a Granberg in Australian hardwood without a 90cc saw minimum. Yea sure you an get a way with it but it is very long slow work and you risk burning out your saw.

I've heard that the new Makita chainsaws ain't bad has anyone had experience with these just curious.

I have been useing stihl products all my life chain saws 056 magnum 021 many different cut off saws most stihls .Only times i have heard of people having problems with them is on lower grade saws .Some are built in mexico and others are built in lictensteen and the price usually reflects that .The 021 is600$ and 019 is 200$ no where near the same quality and should never be comepared.Only stihl product that died on me was my kids fault ran a backpack with intake cloged and over heated it and scored cylinder..Speaking of kids they both at age of 12 where runing 021 on ground bucking small stuff .THey started with a bow saw and 3/4 ax at 8 .Propper training and good level head all tools are safe .But then again some people should never have anything sharper than a banana in their hand .Working on construction sites for 35 years i have learned this the hard way.Proper mix and draining tool for prolonged non use is the best way to make them last. Keep em sharp. Oh yea whats with the stupid safety gas cap. I have never had a tool leek until they came out with that crap.:thumbdown:

I just don't get what makes someone a pro. No disrespect at all to some of the Asplundh workers, but some of them don't look all that professional. There can be moron farmers, moron homeowners, and moron pros. You can't lump every in as one. I know some homeowners that solely heat with wood so their well being depends on running saws and they are super safe individuals that wear all the safety gear.

I'm not a pro, but I started using a saw when I was 12. I wear chaps, steel toe boots, gloves, eye and ear protection. I've actually bought books on cutting trees and I've cut a heck of a lot of trees. I'm not saying I'm perfect, but there are trees I know I can take down and there are trees that I don't mess with. It's not worth my life for a tree.

To say only a "pro" can run a pro saw is beyond silly.

Yep, what Tom said. It should be used by pros and is labeled as such, but it's not in their pro grade line of saws. That's why it costs $350, not $650. It's also a pound lighter, so lots of climbers use them.

she does but I do not think you would be happy she is just lazy, wont cut wood or tend the animals just lays around all day
