I can't see having a BX without a loader! Efficiency? Of course you can do more work in the same amount of time with a bigger machine... duh! But a big machine sometimes can't do what a little machine can in some cases no matter what... and some of us need a little machine to get into tight spaces, not to mention being able to afford it, maintain it, park it, etc. A little machine can do most of what a bigger machine can do but yeah it might take 5 times as long... okay. Sure there are weight limitations so for some commercial work the BX just can't do it. Touché'

I don't have much use for a loader on a the BX. It would be more of a luxury for me. Instead of having a loader on the BX I would rather have a B2620 or B2920. I don't see why people have a problem with some of us saying that a bigger tractor is 4 or 5 times faster than a BX. Baisically what you said in that paragraph is what we have been saying the whole thread.

Today I attacked a huge debris pile on my modest property with my BX. My useless loader moved a half dozen stumps to the burn pile. I have to say to those that don't understand that a BX or other color SCUT isn't a useful tool... you are quite ignorant. Not saying a SCUT is or isn't for you but please don't dismiss them when obviously the sales numbers prove otherwise.

I don't believe anyone in this thread has dismissed a SCUT. We all realize what they are capable of.

So let's all just agree, it's a capable machine for it's size. And for those who need a small machine to fit in small places, get through a certain size gate, storage, Swiss army knife abilities etc it fill's the bill quite nicely.

For those of us looking to buy a smaller machine that don't have the space restrictions it has a couple of shortcomings.

Jay did bring up a good point when he asked about why the tires had to be so small. The one I had dropped off to try had really small front tires. Roger said that on the newer versions the wheels were smaller and I should try and lower the pressure.

The small tires give the machine a rough ride, especially if one of the main duties you have in mind is mowing. On my property that is very wet I easily got it stuck, twice. I think the ride quality and traction could be vastly improved with a better set of wheels/tires.

Again, for those of us who aren't restricted by actual physical size, the main sticking point for me was price. Add up the FEL, mower and backhoe and it's pretty pricy. I can buy a larger more capable machine for not much more money.

And sorry if I came off like the safety police. A friend of mine lost his 10 year old grandson who was driving his golf cart on his property. Got a little too close to a culvert and rolled the cart into the ditch. I have two grandsons and can't imagine the hurt he goes through every day. Enjoy your tractors and be safe.

You pretty much summed this thread up Dave. Too bad other people don't see it this way.

Jay4200 nice looking place you have there. I still think my trench looks better than yours though:) must be the two different tractors we used. The driveway is made of 10 trailer loads of Quahog shells and all put down with the BX. I know your right it would have been much faster with a bigger tractor but I do not need a bigger one to do what I do the BX2360 fits my needs to a tee. I am sorry you have had such a dismal experience with yours and it's good you are telling EVERYONE about it. But I can say for me it has worked out GREAT .

You have a nice place. It looks like you are good with your BH.

Really? The OP in the first post of this thread said the BX is pretty much useless as far as loader work. Also diss'd the BH even though he had to 'imagine' that opinion. I respectfully and totally disagree. I have almost 200 hrs on mine. 75% FEL work, 20% BH work, and 5% grading. These are hard hours, not cruising around mowing grass.

LoL! Great post, I am with you because I have used a couple friends BX's. Many years ago though someone told me if you want to do a lot of digging, get an excavator; if you want to move a lot of material buy a pay loader (or full size backhoe), there is nothing better. I think if its one thing I have learned in the last 15 years or so, is he was right. Compact, subcompact, etc tractors are great but we have to know our limits and not set ridiculous expectations for them. For sure they beat the **** out of a shovel and wheel barrel, which was stated. Would I dig new house foundations and load 10 wheelers with one? No, but we all have to learn the hard way sometimes I guess??? LoL!! Trust me one of my best investments was my Ghel 353 mini excavator with a cab, heat, aux hydraulics, hybrid tracks, and long stick!!! Saved me a ton of time and aggravation over the last 10 years for sure as well as not beating/cursing my tractor!! It's been doing a lot of sitting lately (yes inside, she is spoiled!) but this spring I have about 20 stumps to pop from all the trees we cut in the past year with it. The good news is there is a huge following for BX's if you decide to sell, so I'm sure you won't take a beating at all. Take care, Ted

Are you sure, perhaps those comments have been deleted as well.

I wish there was a way to hide this thread I can't help myself from clicking on it....I give up, as long as it is active I guess I will have to post...just too weak not to...my only hope is to have the tread locked....please lock it up.

You keep saying that. Are you on drugs or something, or are you just batsh*t delusional? I haven't deleted any of my posts - ever. Something is seriously wrong with you.

Best advice so far...

I dont know about that...

For giggles, I talked to my dealer this spring and broached the subject of trading in the BX... He said id get "around $12k, but he'd have to see it in person" but that was about the usual for a 200ish hour machine in good condition..

Thats over a 6k loss for me. And that doesnt even address the several thousand spent on a ZD because apart from its 4wd ability, the BX isnt that great of a mower.

A bit of a beating.

Yes I know lots of things depreciate faster, but the argument that "hey, if you dont like it, dont whine, trade it" has real consequences to a persons pocketbook. Which is the main reason I almost always post that people considering a BX, strongly consider a larger tractor instead.

As was mentioned earlier, a lot of guys on here have hyped up the BX to the point that it has this image that its a "super tractor" or something mythical. I bought into that when I purchased mine. Im more disappointed in myself, I should have known better being involved in the industry.

I paid 14.9k out the door for my BX23 and have turned down 12k.

A friend wanted it bad and when I bought a Deere 110 TLB he thought I would be selling the BX... should have seen the look of disappointment when I told him I would sell the Deere 110 before selling the BX... I think it made him want the BX even more...

I went with him to look at two craigslist finds and one had nothing left of the hydraulic cooling fan and the other had been rolled at least once so he passed.

The BX 23 has a real good reputation...

I think I posted before... when I had about a 100 hours on it I read on TBN about checking hydraulic relief pressure and did. Mine was on the low side... shimmed it to full factory spec and noticed a big difference for loader work and it gave the tooth bar just a little added grunt.

You have to add a tooth bar for it to become a something mythical:D

I think that most SCUT owners are first time tractor buyers and have never been around a tractor before. They don't know anything about equipment and they think the BX is great for them whether or not it is.

My BX is the first TLB I bought new...

Prior, my experience was mostly with Dozers and it made a great side by side picture with my BX next to my D3 CAT... the little guy did have a hard time keeping up at times... but it sure made all those Dozer track disappear.
