I'm just asking you where the authority might come from to strip anyone of a constitutional right? If someone can decide some people are not qualified to have 2nd amendment rights, what other rights might unqualified people be restricted or stripped of? See where this can go, it sounds dangerous to me? HS

You think incarcerated felons have a 2nd amendment right to bear arms? They have other constitutional rights.

To answer your questions, I'd say "common sense" gives government the authority to protect the public (and correctional officers) by denying certain people their almighty 2nd amendment rights.

Frustrating how reporters do that (or editors, whoever selects the headline).

The decision was made months ago. All this court decision concerned was who could appeal. Sure that means it is less likely to be overturned - but it is not a decision about concealed carry, only about court procedures.

edited: just to be clear, it only ends ONE restriction - the requirement for 'good cause' on the application. Nothing else is touched.

I actually took a CCW course (well, half the course anyway), I walked out at lunchtime and never went back. The instructor was an unsafe moron. I still carry a .45 in my truck and sometimes other places on my person, but figured I don't need the permit. New Mexico is kinda like the wild west anyways.

Does anyone feel that a gang of 20 young people (10 - 16 years old) or a group of schizophrenic, recently discharged mental patients have a Constitutional right to carry any weapon they desire or do you agree that right is not absolute?

There is more than one Constitutional Right and each has been balanced by our courts.
