Taxes are a portion of the price of fuel everywhere. NJ has one of the lowest state taxes on gas in the nation; IDK where we stand on diesel fuel tax, but at a station in Hamburg they have off-road for $.20 less/gal. I'd be curious. Gas yesterday $2.43 at Quick Check, diesel $3.15; 30% more.

A side note: the difference between Regular 87 and High Test 93 varies by station. Used to be $.30/gal. Now it's .35, .40, even .50 more per gallon. This matters 'cuz my turbo car only uses 93 octane. BP is cheapest even tho their Regular is more than other stations.

Brookshire's in Chandler diesel $2.97, unleaded $2.28 today. First time I have seen diesel under $3.00 in a long time.

$2.50 for gas here. cheapest I've seen it in quite awhile. Diesel $3.80, a little better than 50%.

Both are taxed, no difference in the tax, that I know of.

On the plus side, I was rolling down the local 55 mph 2 lane today, got passed in a very noisy fashion, by a idiot in a big diesel dually, 1 person in it, not towing or hauling. I was going 60+, so I thought it was kinda cool that I was getting 30 mpg in my little HHR, and he is getting single digits, AND paying more!!!

Most guys I know that have big pickups don't have any need for one, it's just part of their costume.

Don't know about diesel, but I just filled my Suburban with 35 gallons of gas for $64.00!!!! It was $2.39/gallon, and I got 15 of those gallons for $1.09 by using my wife's gas points from the grocery store!!! Its the first time I've topped off that 42 gallon tank in well over a year!
