Anyone miss the larger cars?

My brother worked at a nice boarding barn weekends back in the early 70's... lots of well to do people and some are names everyone would recognize.

Back then you were just as likely to see a Cadillac or Station Wagon towing a two horse trailer as a pickup.

Still remember one of the boarders that towed with an Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser who decided to buy a Brand new 1970 C10 pickup... power was adequate... rear coil spring suspension was a joke...

My daily driving around town truck when I turned 18 was my 78 international loadstar. When I started dating my wife I bought my 94 Freightliner FLD120 for my daily driver. I enjoy the comfort of large trucks. Seating and visibility is much better. My kids love it and a 60 series Detroit could rattle my boy right to sleep. never was a "need the ultimate suv" kind of thing it's just what I love. The f250 is fun to work on but not so fun to drive as a semi.

I have a 78 Loadstar (Oscar) that we still use to haul grain. He has not reach 50k miles yet and i still love to drive that truck. He will haul a load today just as good as the day he was new.

I smiled because my wife also loves that old truck.

Ladies love the large car haha. My 78 is a 1750 tilt hood with the dv550. Has a 10ft flatbed.

Snuck in to a lot of drive ins that way.

Hee hee. I remember doing that. We put three guys in the trunk and two of us in the front seat. We pulled up to the ticket booth and a cute girl we knew was there, so we started talking. The guys in the trunk started pounding on the trunk, she started laughing at us cause it was obvious what we were doing. She said we better get out of there before someone else heard, so we took off across the drive-in hitting all the ramps. Guys in trunk did not like that!

Exactly the movie I was thinking of... who needs a truck???

Did you see the running gear on that trailer??? It has a dolly of some sorts under the tongue. Never seen that before. I saw it in the move several years ago.

Yes, when the cars had big displacement engines. My parents lived 4 years in a travel trailer going back and forth from the Texas coast to Alaska, first towing with a 1966 Buick sedan and later with an Oldsmobile sedan. And we had an acquaintance who towed with a 1970 Olds Vista Cruiser. All those had 454 or 455 cu. in. engines.

I never towed anything with it, but I bought a new 1969 C10 pickup, short bed, 6 cyl., manual; absolutely cheapest one made and in those days some had coil rear springs, some had leaf. That little truck cost me $1,958 plus TTL. The only "options" it had was supposedly heavy duty cooling and a rear bumper.
