The WICKED Root & Debris GRAPPLE!!!!!!!

Like this?

Yep. Except I'm fond of curved lower tines. Makes it easier to slip them under a root and then curl to pop it up or rip through it. Once upon a time straight times were easier to cut but with CAD cutting systems a nice curve with serrations is just a mouse click away.

This reply took me about 15 minutes to type because I sold a 60" Wicked Grapple right in the middle of it!

That was me ordering the grapple. ****, if I knew you were working on one with a larger opening I might have waited:confused3:

I'm sure they will do that for you. Right Ted??

Something is already in the works. :) After some talking and thinking with Ted this morning, he is now at the drawing board.

It will not be a redesign of our current models, but a new model that is a cross between our 50" single lid and our larger dual lid wicked grapples.

I think this is wise. You have hit the mark for small tractors with limited lift. Now would be the time to make something for those of us that have larger tractors with greater lift and larger and more loads to move. I just could not live with a 30" opening.

I do hope they keep it at 50" wide though. There are many choices with wider grapples but only a handful of traditional knockoff designed narrow (48-50") grapples that are appropriate for under 50hp tractors. A fresh rethink of a 48-50" grapple taking into account some of the features (intermediate tines, wide single upper jaw) of the EA 50 but a little beefier (3/8" mild steel) would certainly get a lot of attention (especially with EA's aggressive marketing and shipping policies). Most of the competition (exception is WRLong) are really just smallish welding shops knocking off traditional designs with little imagination. EA can do better.

Totally agree. The most useful grapple is ~48" wide with one lid, lightweight and a large opening of ~45". It doesn't get much better than that.

I think you just described the W.R. Long OBG-2 48". I'm thinking about what grapple to get when I'm done with my stump grapple. If ETA doesn't have something with a wider opening by then, I'd probably get the OBG-2 48".

WR Long hasn't been around for as long as they have because they don't know what to manufacture. Marketing and distribution might be another discussion. I have never heard anything bad about their grapples. They might want to up the 2200lb ratting a few hundred, but that is about all.

What are you guys doing with a grapple on a CUT that you need a large opening for? Most of the talk on here is it would be better for brush. Where is all this brush coming from that you guys are filling your grapple with? I think the main advantage of a larger opening on a grapple would be for handling a larger log (not very many here over 30'') or moving a larger stump (that a CUT may not lift). So my question is why do you need a larger opening for brush? It takes a lot of brush to fill my grapple. Are you guys moving piles around with your grapple?

I think it is great that EA is going to be offering a grapple with a larger opening to meet their customers wants.
