Would your wife notice if you got a new tractor?

I made a deal with my wife a few years back on equipment buying. She said I could buy whatever I wanted as long as whatever I spent on machines she could spend double on her kitchen. Solved the problem. So I bought a few old machines like an excavator, dozer, tractor, scraper, and dump truck. Then we started on the kitchen. Now that the kitchen is done I have figured out I can go out and buy all new machines.

Maybe maybe not,but would I notice if she purchase something almost the same value...payback.

My thoughts exactly Thomas. Lot of chest thumping going on in this thread. Wonder how attitudes would change if everyone's wife suddenly started posting here.....

I tell my wife about all purchases of several hundred dollars and up. I don't do it to get her permission. I do it out of respect for her. If she shrugs it off, that's okay. If she wants to engage in a meaningful conversation about it, that's okay.

I expect and receive the same respect from her.

A relationship where one party spends several thousand dollars on a purchase without discussion with the other party doesn't sound like much of a relationship to me. :confused3:

That sounds like us here. We discuss any big purchase together even if she dosnt really understand why or what I want she still gets informed on all the choices and sometimes actually gets interested in things and helps me with some of the choices.

Same as my wife and I. We discuss all major purchases. Although I'm usually the one doing the spending..

Back in late 2002 I purchased a new loaded Deere 4210 to supplement an older 318 and my then-spouse didn't even notice it for a month....she asked "Did you get a new LAWN MOWER?" (emphasis added here). CLUELESS....!!! MY current fiance would notice a lot quicker but she is a lot more mechanically minded and much brighter than my ex....but she would not care...she would be happy for me (as long as she didn't have to pay anything for it).
