LED up grade=yes.
Radial tire up grade.
I think I am going to lay down some (L) track for my tie down points.

I have a good welder and I love tinkering=welding projects galore.

Good plan.

Here is what I liked about this particular trailer, for the top rail, no angle iron here,
but a 1.1/2 x 2.1/2 tube top, very ridged, to say the least.

Will your gate lay flat in the deck?

No it won't, stand up only. Not a "quick" removal, couple of bolts/nuts and the hydro lift assist. Minor inconvenience generally. When I have to haul 24' boards, then I'll be whining. Hasn't happened yet thankfully.

I do get the parachute effect of the gate, but I'm willing to accept that for the overall convenience. Given the multiple vehicle widths and other uses, the gate serves my needs better than ramps..A planned thing. It's not really as bad as some like to say.
I pull it 2 hours each way to camp in the summer and it's no problem.

Hauled a 440V Bobcat generator on it a few times. Without the gate, we'd have never moved it unless we had a fork-lift handy.

Mine will lay down flat, the thought of that huge sail standing up back there is bad on the MPG.LOL

Good luck. I looked last year for a 12' single axle with a lay down gate. Nobody offered that option. They gave me the "why do you want that?" response.

I can see where that would be convenient for some things like towing empty or hauling extended loads like lumber or something like that...Not sure it would work all that well hauling a couple of quads given the gates are at least 4' generally, that would eat a ton of deck. Would be nice to have the option though.

I wanted it for using around the farm. If I needed to load a generator then I could then lay it flat and work off the back. I could do it with a tilt but didn't want to mess with the tilt. Besides you can only load one ATV or mower on a tilt. But a ramp you can fill the deck. Just my thinking.

I see your use and the lay flat certainly would make sense.

I will never carry more than 2 quads=1600 pounds.
I'm betting this changes.

Tandems bounce less while being pulled.

Was going to post this but searched through the entire thread to see if anyone else had considered this.
It's something to be considered for light loads or transporting an empty trailer to pick up a load if you're going any distance or traveling interstates.
