A scaled up version with longer everything (not just larger uppers) and a wider opening that can still pinch would be more efficient for handling brush.

In the near future, we're probably in store for a scaled up version for utility tractors and the increasingly popular mega compacts(yes, just made that term up).

Most scaled up versions on the market are ideally made for skid steers, so I think there is a good sized market for a grapple that's in between our Wicked Grapple and a full blown HD Grapple like the CA Xtreme Grapple.

Just received my EA Wicked 66 Root Grapple this week. Shipped the day after I ordered it. Put it on my Bobcat 763.
Travis did mention to me "Not intended for a skid steer". I fully understood his comment.
Travis knows his stuff ... he told me I need longer hoses. The length he said I need were exactly right.
He said the bracket that holds the spring loaded hose saver may hit the Bobcat when bucket is fully curled up. He was right, BUT
as a result it prevents the hoses from getting pinched.... Travis knows his stuff!
I was very happy that the fittings were not greased and there was no hydraulic fluid in the new grapple. I want to use my own grease and my Bobcat fluid.
Needless to say I put it to work right away. And I can tell you I'm very happy I chose EA. Well made, Well done!
This grapple will probably end up on a tractor in the future ... who knows.
No problem with the grapple opening for me. Yes, I know lots of posts are asking for upgrades to the design. EA will no doubt come up with that. All good suggestions, too.
BUT, for me, call me HAPPY !! Thanks EA. Thanks Ted and Travis.
Harry

P.S. Even my wife likes it! That means a lot!!

Instead, build a 78-84" wide high capacity Gannon box blade with hydraulic scarifiers knockoff so I can buy it from you, bang on it all this summer making over one mile of road with it, while also making awesome videos. I'll even put money down on it if you can have it ready by the time the snow melts in northern Minnesota.

Well no one has still answered my question, why do you need a large opening for brush. All I have seen is pictures of tractors picking large bushes and that could have been done with a grapple with a smaller opening. Does anybody have any pictures or a video of where they are working so I can understand why a larger opening would be better.

Island did you see the video of Ted abusing the Everything Attachments 50 inch single lid grapple? At one point he hangs the front end of this tractor off of the top lid, and says "tractors are not meant to hang from trees". Of course it is a fairly small tractor, a CT-122 I think, which is a CK-20 class tractor. But still, it did not seem to hurt the grapple. I don't know it I would want to hang my DK35se off of the lid though!

I went to pick up a stump and when the second lid started to close it started to pick up the tractor with one lid!

if your logic is true, then you don't need to open your grapple any farther than 1". Try picking up a large pile of brush with a 1" opening, then try with your 30" opening. Please show us pictures of proof that you don't need a large opening to pick up the same pile, that a small 1" opening will do.

I'm just saying that it takes a lot of brush to fill up my grapple.

Are you moving a pile of brush a long distance with your grapple or what?

People keep talking that they can't get any brush in the grapple with a 30" opening. If they can't get any brush in it then what good is a 40'' opening gonna be?

A 3 yard dump truck is great, but a 5 yard truck can haul more. Nothing wrong with a 3 yard, nothing wrong with a 5 yard.

I have multiple grapples and can get the most brush in my 47" wide 46" opening L bottom. Not that I could not move the same brush in more trips with a smaller grapple. To your point, brush is clingy and I'd guess you can get a lot in a bite with a 30" opening. Not as much as a larger grapple, but still a lot.

I know a grapple with a lager opening will hold more. I guess what I am getting at is how often is yours full? What are you doing to fill it?

As full as I can on each pick. I don't see a reason not to take full bites if I am clearing/moving brush.

Are you cleaning up brush in a wooded area, from timber being cut or what?

I hauled off 17+ heaping loades of brush and stumps (one close to 6' in diameter) on a 1 ton truck last year and I never wished I had a larger opening on the grapple. That is why I am confused as to why a larger opening is grapple is need for brush.
