Well peeps, I ordered my trailer today. I went with a 78 inch wide buy 14 foot long, single axle. It was the better choice for my needs. I ordered a ton of options on it, should be done in a month? Again, thank you all that responded.

Can the red powder coat be "touched-up" if you are grinding and welding on it?

That is one reason I went with a trailer with a "cheap" paint job- a rattle can of primer and a rattle can of gloss black and it looks as good as new (did not look THAT good when new)

I welded a mount for a hand winch on the front of mine, and I took a 4"grinder & cut-off wheels, and cut 1 1/4 inch slots in the stake pockets (to hold chain like a grab hook) so I have done some touching-up on the paint

All I will be able to do is just spray paint (rattle can)the welded spots with a red that matches
fairly close.

The single-axle 12 foot trailer I bought is a "price" trailer- intended to be cheap. But has done a pretty-good job so far.

It came with a spare tire mount, but the mount is nothing more than a leaf spring hanger welded to an upright, with a wheel lug stud welded
to the hanger. The gate that came with the trailer is secured in the "up" position by lynch pins in holes in tabs, and the tabs are just leaf spring shackles
welded to the top rail.

The one concession to expense the builder did not make, was he bolted the tongue jack on rather than just welding it. If I screw-up and bend the jack it
will not be a big deal to replace it.

There are a couple of other things I don't like about it, mainly that they blew holes through the cross members with a torch and ran wires throw the resulting jagged
holes. I "bushed" the holes with some vinyl tubing so the wires wouldn't chafe but I don't think the ragged holes do much to preserve the strength of the cross members.

But all in all I am satisfied that I got about the best trailer I could for the amount of money I spent.

The guy is still selling them:

The right-hand photo is the standard trailer.

The guy was kind of an a__ to deal with.

I here you on jury rigging.LOL
The person I delt with could not have been a better person to buy from.
Royer trailer sales, Clinton, Indiana.
1 and a half hours from my town, which is Clinton, Illinois.LOL
By no means is this trailer cheep, I weld all day at my job, I use 22 pounds of
.045 wire a day, so, I like to think I can spot quality when I see it.
I was very impressed with this trailer in all my end less hours of research.
PJ trailer would of been my next choice.

Edit=the link did not work.

he bolted the tongue jack on rather than just welding it.
This I will never under stand.LOL,I had a Rice trailer that was welded.

His mower should move a tandem if he is on the flat.

Depends on the weight of trailer and the drive system on the mower. Would not do it with a cheaper HST mower, as they break pretty easily when stressed. My little Deere gear drive mower barely moves my tandem-axle 16' on flat ground. Any resistance and the drive belt will slip (which is good, as it prevents something else from breaking). There is also the matter of tongue weight. The mower's front tires get pretty light when moving that trailer and I cannot go in reverse without lifting front tires off the ground. I don't use the mower for that any more, just too risky all around.

I just ordered my new trailer, a little smaller. 6'x12'. I didn't see it mentioned, but vehicle tow capacity comes into play too. I thought about a larger tandem, but that would only overload the tow vehicle. So I stuck with a single axle w/brakes, but an aluminum trailer. That's an extra 400 pounds of payload by having a lighter trailer to start with. Bonus, aluminum doesn't rust. I'm getting steel wheels though, I HATE aluminum. They leak. Just spent $62 today to repair "4 flat tires" on my pickup because the wheels are aluminum, and every couple of years, the tires have to be come off and the wheels and beads cleaned.

I also have no use for a large sail at the back of the trailer. The tailgate will match the side height and operate like a pickup tailgate, don't see too many stupid sails on the back of pickups..... Wheeled cargo is only a small percentage of it's intended use. Ramp gates are great for single use trailers, but for all around use, I see no advantage to them. When I need to haul that long rebar or plank home, I can cheat some over the tongue, the flat tail gate will an extra foot to the trailer length. Also makes a built in bench at the worksite.

I've had my new trailer for two weeks now.
